People's sense of being subject to digital dataveillance can cause them to restrict their digital communication behavior. Such a chilling effect is essentially a form of self-censorship in everyday digital media use with the attendant risks of undermining individual autonomy and well-being. This article combines the existing theoretical and limited empirical work on surveillance and chilling effects across fields with an analysis of novel data toward a research agenda. The institutional practice of dataveillance—the automated, continuous, and unspecific collection, retention, and analysis of digital traces—affects individual behavior. A mechanism-based causal model based on the theory of planned behavior is proposed for the micro level: An individual's increased sense of dataveillance causes their subjective probability assigned to negative outcomes of digital communication behavior to increase and attitudes toward this communication to become less favorable, ultimately decreasing the intention to engage in it. In aggregate and triggered through successive salience shocks such as data scandals, dataveillance is accordingly hypothesized to lower the baseline of free digital communication in a society through the chilling effects mechanism. From the developed theoretical model, a set of methodological consequences and questions for future studies are derived.

Tasikmalaya known as the centers of bamboo handicraft industry in West Java. It produces various products, from daily household equipment in the form of rough woven with low prices to creative bamboo products with high prices for the upper middle market. Products are distributed for domestic needs and demand of foreign buyers. This study reveals the marketing communication behavior of creative bamboo entrepreneurs in Tasikmalaya in developing a creative bamboo craft business. A qualitative method with a case study approach was used to obtain information about the behavior of bamboo handicraft entrepreneurs in Tasikmalaya in marketing their products. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with creative bamboo entrepreneurs who still actively running their businesses and willing to provide information about the businesses they are running. Data were also collected through non-participatory observations at the location and conducted a literature review and documents related to the research. Data analysis, data checking and validity of the data were conducted through Miles and Huberman's interactive data analysis concept. The results showed that the communication behavior conducted by creative bamboo entrepreneurs consisted of internal communication behavior and external communication behavior. Internal communication behavior is conducted on workers with the principle of kinship. Humanist approach is used to maintain production stability. The form of external communication behavior is tailored to whom they're being faced. Face-to-face communication and mediated communication are used in marketing bamboo handicraft products.

Recently developed methods in computational neuroethology have enabled increasingly detailed and comprehensive quantification of animal movements and behavioral kinematics. Vocal communication behavior is well poised for application of similar large-scale quantification methods in the service of physiological and ethological studies. This review describes emerging techniques that can be applied to acoustic and vocal communication signals with the goal of enabling study beyond a small number of model species. We review a range of modern computational methods for bioacoustics, signal processing, and brain-behavior mapping. Along with a discussion of recent advances and techniques, we include challenges and broader goals in establishing a framework for the computational neuroethology of vocal communication.

Communication behavior shows the initiative of individuals or communities in adopting related innovations in seeking or disseminating information. This study aims to analyze: (1) attitudes, (2) subjective norms, (3) intentions, (4) communication behavior of farmers regarding the adoption of red chili cultivation in coastal sandy land, (5) the influence of attitudes on intentions, (6) the effect of subjective norm on intention, (7) influence of attitude on communication behavior, (8) influence of farmer's subjective norm on communication behavior, (9) influence of intention on communication behavior, (10) influence of attitude on communication behavior through intention, (11) influence of norm farmer's subjective perception of communication behavior through farmer's intention to adopt red chili in coastal sandy land. The basic research method is quantitative with survey techniques. The research locations were deliberately determined to include: Bugel Village, Pleret Village and Garongan Village, Panjatan District. Sampling using proportional random sampling technique consisted of 100 farmer respondents. Data analysis used path test (path analysis) with SPSS Statistics 22.0 program. The results showed that: (1) attitudes were included in the confident category, (2) subjective norms were included in the caring category, (3) intentions had a high category regarding communication behavior (4) communication behavior had a low category, (5) attitudes had no effect on communication behavior. intention, (6) farmer's subjective norm has no effect on intention, (7) farmer's attitude has no effect on communication behavior, (8) farmer's subjective norm has no effect on communication behavior, (9) farmer's intention has no effect on communication behavior, (10) farmer's attitude has no effect on communication behavior through farmers' intentions, (11) Farmers' subjective norms affect communication behavior through farmers' intentions to adopt red chilies on coastal sandy fields. The suggestion proposed is that there is a need to increase the intensity of gathering in farmer group activities and frequent discussion forums among red chili farmers in coastal sandy areas.

In the modern society where the pressure of interpersonal communication is increasing, the ritualistic interactions represented by mutual praise reinterprets the interpersonal communication behavior of youth groups to some extent. In traditional interpersonal interaction, the connotation of sincerity, affirmation and identification represented by "praise" has been deprived and replaced. According to the needs of social interaction and individual emotional needs, college students have given new connotation to "praise", showing a changing trend from sincere praise to deliberate flattering. Based on this, this paper puts forward the concept of "ritualistic praise", and analyzes the causes and influences of this phenomenon from the perspective of interactive ritual chains, to get a glimpse of the emotional life patterns of young people in the context of modern interpersonal communication.

Due to the fact that teacher-student rapport may favorably influence students' academic behaviors, several scholars have empirically studied the impact of this interpersonal communication behavior on a range of student-related variables. Notwithstanding, academic engagement as another student-related variable has received less empirical attention. Further, no review study has been carried out to illustrate the beneficial outcomes of teacher-student rapport for students' involvement. The current study, hence, aims to fill these gaps by explaining the construct of teacher-student-rapport and its positive consequences for students' academic engagement in the practical instruction classrooms. Drawing on the available evidence, the positive impact of teacher-student rapport on students' academic engagement was illuminated. The significant implications of the finding are also discussed.
