The effect of bamboo fiber content on mechanical properties, moisture permeability and light transmittance of composite membrane was studied. The results show that the tensile strength of the composite film is increased by 30%, and the mechanical properties of PVA film are improved obviously with the addition of bamboo cellulose, which can be used as a good reinforcing material of PVA matrix. Bamboo cellulose composite film is a kind of transparent material because of its high light transmittance.

Introduction Transparent, patient-specific vocal tract replicas are helpful in research and educational endeavors but challenging to procure. An accessible method for fabricating these models, improving on previously suggested processes, would make them more widely available. Method Detailed instructions for fabricating a transparent, patient-specific vocal tract model were addressed. The broad steps were (1) digitally reconstructing (patient-specific) vocal tract geometry, (2) producing a vocal tract mold (using methods such as three-dimensional [3D] printing), and (3) casting transparent material (such as silicone) around the vocal tract mold and removing the mold. The cavities remaining within the cast represented the exact geometry of the vocal tract. Discussion A combination of 3D printing and silicone casting can produce useful vocal tract replicas. Several simple changes to previous methods can improve consistency and reduce the labor and cost of production. Limitations and potential modifications to expand the applications of this method are discussed.

Detecting distance between surfaces of transparent materials with large area and thickness has always been a difficult problem in the field of industry. In this paper, a method based on low-cost TOF continuous-wave modulation and deep convolutional neural network technology is proposed. The distance detection between transparent material surfaces is converted to the problem of solving the intersection of the optical path and the transparent material’s front and rear surfaces. On this basis, the Gray code encoding and decoding operations are combined to achieve distance detection between surfaces. The problem of holes and detail loss of depth maps generated by low-resolution TOF depth sensors have been also effectively solved. The entire system is simple and can achieve thickness detection on the full surface area. Besides, it can detect large transparent materials with a thickness of over 30 mm, which far exceeds the existing optical thickness detection system for transparent materials.

The recently proposed optical elements containing semitransparent wavelike films embedded into the transparent material are investigated. Such optical elements do not distort a wave transmitted through them. Novel optical elements can be fabricated using well-known embossing methods. Their possible applications are discussed. The optical elements containing holographic wavelike films can be used for color holography, for augmented reality wearable glasses, as a beam combiner for head-up displays. The optical elements containing diffuse wavelike films can be used as an alternative for tinted car windows, instead of mirror-glass windows in high-rise buildings, for shop-windows, for one-way privacy windows, for printing images on eyeglasses. The scheme of a waveguide display with a single-layer holographic wavelike films is analyzed. The feasibility of the proposed applications is verified by estimation of the optical elements’ parameters and computer simulation, and measurements conducted on an experimental specimen.

Double acting cylinders in its application are widely used in the industry and are often applied in maintenance or repair instruments. The purpose of this research is to design and make a double acting cylinder so that the movement of the hydraulic cylinder its fluid flow can be seen clearly and easily implemented in the movement process, especially in the learning process. The research employs experimental method by directly design a transparent double acting cylinder. This transparent double acting cylinder will later be applied to the hydraulic trainer. The steps taken were determining the transparent material, making material samples for tensile tests, designing and making hydraulic cylinders, conducting hydraulic cylinder tests using Autodesk Inventor 2019. From the test results of hydraulic cylinders made from acrylic using Autodesk Inventor 2019, the minimum pressure that occurs is 1,456 MPa and the maximum pressure that occurs is 6,573 MPa, in operation, the recommended pressure 1,456 to 5,551 MPa, double acting transparent cylinder which has a transparent hydraulic cylinder length of 250 mm, thickness 11.4 mm, hydraulic cylinder inner diameter 32 mm, hydraulic cylinder locking uses 4 bolts with size M8, design pressure 23 kg/cm².Keywords: hydraulic system, double acting cylinder, transparent.
