Colorectal cancer is one common digestive malignancy, and the most common approach of blood metastasis of colorectal cancer is through the portal vein system to the liver. Early detection and treatment of liver metastasis is the key to improving the prognosis of the patients. Radiomics and radiogenomics use non-invasive methods to evaluate the biological properties of tumors by deeply mining the texture features of images and quantifying the heterogeneity of metastatic tumors. Radiomics and radiogenomics have been applied widely in the detection, treatment, and prognostic evaluation of colorectal cancer liver metastases. Based on the imaging features of the liver, this paper reviews the current application of radiomics and radiogenomics in the diagnosis, treatment, monitor of disease progression, and prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer liver metastases.

Automatic navigation system for agricultural vehicles have become a widely used technology in precision agriculture over the last few decades. More and more sophisticated tractor control systems, however, revealed that exact positioning of the actual implement is equally or even more important. Based on literature sources and patent databases, the aim of this review is to introduce implement guidance systems and describe its current application in agricultural implement. Agricultural implement guidance is an essential technology for autonomous vehicle operations. In addition, applications and new technologies associated with navigation sensors on passive and active implement guidance are analyzed. Finally, challenges and future perspectives of agricultural implement systems are summarized and forecasted. This study can enrich the application of automatic navigation sensors on agricultural implements and provide a reference for the application of automatic navigation on more field operations.

Islam has provided a guiding principle regarding the involvement of non-Muslims in aspects of governance and administration. In Malaysia, this right has been recognized since independence which saw the involvement of non-Muslims in the executive administration such as ministers and key administrators at the federal and state levels. The relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims is one of the main themes that are often discussed in the Quran. However, the interpretation some of the verses seem to be done out of context has created confusion and misunderstanding in the society. The voting and appointment of non -Muslim candidates in several important government positions such as the Chief Justice, Attorney General of Malaysia and Federal Minister has sparked controversy in Malaysia. Thus, this study aims to analyze the concept of non-Muslim leadership in Malaysia according to the perspective of maqāṣid al-sharī’ah. The study was conducted qualitatively using the library method by analyzing the texts of the Qur’an and Hadith as well as the debates of Muslim scholars on the concept of nonMuslim leadership in an Islamic country. In addition, content analysis method was also conducted towards the provisions of the Federal Constitution and the report of the Department of Statistics Malaysia to examine the current application of non-Muslim leadership in Malaysia. Although the Federal Constitution has provided basic guidelines on the administration of the country, but some important criteria outlined by Islam need to be emphasized to preserve the sensitivity and harmony of the plural society in Malaysia, especially the Muslim community as the majority in this country.

Low back pain represents a significant socioeconomic burden. Several nonsurgical medical treatments have been proposed for the treatment of this disabling condition. Epidural steroid injections (ESIs) are commonly used to treat lumbosacral radicular pain and to avoid surgery. Even though it is still not clear which type of conservative intervention is superior, several studies have proved that ESIs are able to increase patients’ quality of life, relieve lumbosacral radicular pain and finally, reduce or delay more invasive interventions, such as spinal surgery. The aim of this narrative review is to analyze the mechanism of action of ESIs in patients affected by low back pain and investigate their current application in treating this widespread pathology.

Background: The emerging field of artificial intelligence (AI) will probably affect the practice for the next generation of doctors. However, the students' views on AI have not been largely investigated. Methods: An anonymous electronic survey on AI was designed for medical and dental students to explore: (1) sources of information about AI, (2) AI applications and concerns, (3) AI status as a topic in medicine, and (4) students' feelings and attitudes. The questionnaire was advertised on social media platforms in 2020. Security measures were employed to prevent fraudulent responses. Mann-Whitney U-test was employed for all comparisons. A sensitivity analysis was also performed by binarizing responses to express disagreement and agreement using the Chi-squared test. Results: Three thousand one hundred thirty-three respondents from 63 countries from all continents were included. Most respondents reported having at least a moderate understanding of the technologies underpinning AI and of their current application, with higher agreement associated with being male (p < 0.0001), tech-savvy (p < 0.0001), pre-clinical student (p < 0.006), and from a developed country (p < 0.04). Students perceive AI as a partner rather than a competitor (72.2%) with a higher agreement for medical students (p = 0.002). The belief that AI will revolutionize medicine and dentistry (83.9%) with greater agreement for students from a developed country (p = 0.0004) was noted. Most students agree that the AI developments will make medicine and dentistry more exciting (69.9%), that AI shall be part of the medical training (85.6%) and they are eager to incorporate AI in their future practice (99%).Conclusion: Currently, AI is a hot topic in medicine and dentistry. Students have a basic understanding of AI principles, a positive attitude toward AI and would like to have it incorporated into their training.

Abstract The electro-vortex flow of liquid metal in a cylindrical cell, placed into external vertical magnetic field, in case of axial electric current application is studied numerically and experimentally. The results are compared to those previously obtained in case of a localized electric current application. In the absence of the external magnetic field, the comparison shows no qualitative change in the flow structure. In presence of the external magnetic field, a poloidal motion is suppressed. A critical magnetic field of poloidal suppression is shown to be approximately 50% higher in case of axial electric current application.

The rapid growth and decreasing cost of Next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies have made it possible to conduct routine large panel genomic sequencing in many disease settings, especially in the oncology domain. Furthermore, it is now known that optimal disease management of patients depends on individualized cancer treatment guided by comprehensive molecular testing. However, translating results from molecular sequencing reports into actionable clinical insights remains a challenge to most clinicians. In this review, we discuss about some representative systems that leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to facilitate some processes of clinicians’ decision making based upon molecular data, focusing on their application in precision oncology. Some limitations and pitfalls of the current application of AI in clinical decision making are also discussed.

AbstractCurrent, application-driven trends towards larger-scale integration (LSI) of microfluidic systems for comprehensive assay automation and multiplexing pose significant technological and economical challenges to developers. By virtue of their intrinsic capability for powerful sample preparation, centrifugal systems have attracted significant interest in academia and business since the early 1990s. This review models common, rotationally controlled valving schemes at the heart of such “Lab-on-a-Disc” (LoaD) platforms to predict critical spin rates and reliability of flow control which mainly depend on geometries, location and liquid volumes to be processed, and their experimental tolerances. In absence of larger-scale manufacturing facilities during product development, the method presented here facilitates efficient simulation tools for virtual prototyping and characterization and algorithmic design optimization according to key performance metrics. This virtual in silico approach thus significantly accelerates, de-risks and lowers costs along the critical advancement from idea, layout, fluidic testing, bioanalytical validation, and scale-up to commercial mass manufacture.
