Childhood with a relative's excessive alcohol use, and own drinking in adult years

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate if individuals who had been brought up by relatives (e.g. parents, siblings and grandparents) who consumed excessive alcohol effected these individuals' own alcohol use in their adult years. The participants in the study were also asked about their alcohol consumption in the past 12 months, and abstainers were asked about their reasons for choosing to live their lives without consuming alcohol. Method: A quantitative approach was used. Data collected from the Icelandic RARHA SEAS were used in this study. A panel of 2500 respondents in the age range of 18-65 years was randomly sampled and was intended to be adequately representative of the Icelandic population. There was a 34.9% response rate ( n=873). Results: Of the 873 source of this study, 26.6% (n=211) categorised as Group A had lived with relatives who excessively consumed alcohol, and this had negatively affected them in their childhood. In their adult years, Group A seemed to be more frequently intoxicated than the control group, Group B (n=659). They also experienced more negative consequences from their alcohol consumption. Group A was likely to consume alcohol to deal with difficult feelings such as depression, and they were also more likely to abstain than Group B. Conclusions: The childhood experience of living with relatives who excessively use alcohol does not impact everyone in the same way in their adult years. Some of them are more likely to use excessive alcohol as adults without relating it to their childhood experience of relatives excessively using alcohol.

This reflections explores some of the highs and lows of songs sung on the terraces at British football clubs. In particular I draw on some of my childhood experience to explore how songs can breathe hope and inclusion.

Tingkat Pemahaman Ibu Pada Perawatan gigi anak Pada Komunitas Kelompok Mom and Me RS Islam Surabaya

AbstrakBerdasarkan data Riskesdas 2018, menunjukan 93% anak usia dini mengalami gigi berlubang. Beberapa penelitian menujukkan pentingnya pemahaman orang tua terhadap pengetahuan tentang perawatan gigi pada anak. Pengabdian masyaakat ini (1) Membuat leaflet terkait perawatan gigi anak sebagai bahan edukasi kepada masyarakat, (2) Menyelenggarakan kuliah Whatsup Grup (WAG) tentang perawatan gigi anak, (3) Membuat video edukasi terkait perawatan gigi anak sebagai bahan edukasi kepada masyarakat, (4) Melakukan edukasi melalui Youtube Chanel tentang perawatan gigi anak.dari pelaksanaan dapat disimpulkan Leaflet yang sudah dibuat sangat memberikan manfaat kepada semua pengunjung poli gigi RS Islam Surabaya meningkatkan pengetahuan para ibu untuk pentingnya menjaga kesehatan gigi anak. Kuliah WAG yang diadakan mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu dan ayah peserta dengan kenaikan pengetahuan sebesar 23,71 %. Bagi ayah / ibu yang belum berkesempatan mengikuti kuliah WAG bisa berkesempatan untuk melihat youtube chanel RS Islam Surabaya dengan tema tingkat pemahaman ibu terhadap pemahaman perawatan kesehatan gigi anak.Kata Kunci: Kesehatan gigi anak, Whatsup Grup, Leaflet, Youtube ChanelAbstractBased on data from Riskesdas 93% of early childhood experience cavities. This community service (1) makes leaflets related to children's dental care as educational materials for the community, (2) organizes Whatsup Group (WAG) lectures on children's dental care, (3) makes educational videos related to children's dental care as educational materials for the community, ( 4) Conducting education through the Youtube Chanel about children's dental care. From the implementation, it can be concluded that the leaflets that have been made are very beneficial to all visitors to the dental clinic of the Surabaya Islamic Hospital, increasing the knowledge of mothers about the importance of maintaining children's dental health. The WAG lectures that were held were able to increase the knowledge of the participants' mothers and fathers with an increase in knowledge of 23.71%. Lockdown Drills in Kindergarten

This chapter, “Lockdown Drills in Kindergarten,” examines the primary childhood experience that sets Generation Disaster apart from previous cohorts: their early awareness of the threat of school shootings and other types of mass gun violence. It explores the impact of participating in school lockdown drills throughout primary and secondary school and how these security activities can increase distress and anxiety for some children. It describes how extremely rare school-based rampage attacks are relative to much more common forms of gun violence that receive less media attention. The chapter also discusses the role of social media in mass shootings, including as a motivator for copycat attacks and a source of vicarious trauma through exposing viewers to unfiltered images of violence.
