This qualitative study of three Latino male preservice teachers in a bilingual education preparation program centers on the use of testimonio as a methodology to give voice to the complex experiences of young Latinos as they navigate their way through career choices and college. While work on male teachers has historically focused on white men and more recently black men, Latinos represent a very large ethnic population in the United States with varied histories, cultural practices, and linguistic practices. While caring has been conflated as a practice of female teachers, the young men in this study illustrate an ethic of care that is more complex than that of affect. Their care is directly tied to their willingness to pay forward their learning and experiences to other Latino children by way of teaching in bilingual programs. The findings of this research illustrate the complex terrain that these young men navigate as they decide on a career in a historically white and female profession. This study offers implications for in-service teachers and their role in cultivating the next generation of male teachers. For universities and colleges of education, this study offers insight into the institutional challenges and support systems these Latino men must circumnavigate.

Abstract: The aim of this brief paper is to explore and demonstrate the importance of teacher’s gender at the preschool levels of education and would be focussing on men as professional teachers at the preschool level of education or nursery level of education, and how the participation of male teachers has contributed to the feminist view within teaching. The paper is primarily supported by secondary research through inclusion and consideration of different peer reviewed academic papers relating to the subject. The paper highlights key considerations and reasons derived from different countries in relation to the underrepresentation of males within this level of education including low salaries, dominance of female’s numbers in the profession, the negative stigma associated with men working within this level of education, and social fears. However, male presence in this level of education is supported due to various reasons including diversification of students’ experience within preschool levels of education and consideration of equality matters.

Abstract: Gender identity typically aware at the age of two and will strengthen until about five years old. It is important for parents and teacher of early childhood education to provide knowledge and strengthen children's gender identity so that their gender identity develops according to their gender. Teachers in schools play an important role in strengthening gender identity. Unfortunately, today's society is not much aware of the importance of it and teachers of early childhood education are still considered as women's professions. This article aims to explain the importance of the presence of male teachers on the strengthen of gender identity in early childhood students. This study used a literature review method with thematic analysis techniques. The results of the research analysis showed that society still gives a stigma that early childhood teachers must be women because they have more patience and so on. It creates a sense of prestige and shame for men to become early childhood teachers. On the other hand, male teachers are very much needed at the early childhood education level because male teachers have a role that cannot be replaced by female teachers, especially in the formation and strengthening of gender identity for male students, including providing challenging games for male students, giving examples of assertive behavior, and other attributes that show male gender roles in front of male students. Keywords: Early childhood education, gender identity, male student, male teacher.

Previous scientific literature has not determined the influence exerted by trainers and teachers of adolescents on the development of gender stereotypes in sport. For this reason, the aims of the present research were to establish differences in gender stereotypes in sport among teachers and trainers as a function of profession and sex and to analyze the influence of age and years of experience of male and female trainers and teachers on the gender stereotypes in sport. For this purpose, 127 teachers and trainers completed the questionnaire “gender beliefs and stereotypes towards physical activity and sport”. The results showed a significantly higher score of the teachers in “beliefs about physical activity and gender” (p = 0.048) and of the trainers in “physical education classes and gender” (p = 0.006). Concerning sex, women showed higher scores in “sport and gender” (p = 0.005), and men in “beliefs about physical activity and gender” (p = 0.045). Regarding covariates, age showed significant differences in “sport and gender” (p = 0.029), with female teachers showing higher values with respect to female trainers and male teachers, while years of experience showed differences in “beliefs about sport and gender” (p = 0.044), with male teachers showing higher values than male trainers and female teachers.

Alcohol consumption among teachers is becoming an issue of concern in Uganda.  Markedly, alcohol consumption among teachers varies by socio-demographic characteristics. This study establishes the relationship between socio-demographic characteristics and alcohol consumption among secondary school teachers in Greater Bushenyi of Uganda. The study employed a cross-sectional design with a quantitative method of data collection and analysis. Multistage sampling was employed, first stratified proportionate and then simple random sampling. The study sample consisted of 266 participants from 11 secondary schools. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire.  Descriptive statistics and logistic regressions were the analytical strategies, using Stata 15.0 version. Significance was set at p = 0.05. The rate of alcohol consumption among teachers was 44.7%. Male teachers were more likely to consume alcohol as compared to females (AOR: 2.2, 95% CI: 1.22-3.80, p< .01). As compared to Muslim counterparts, teachers identifying with the Roman Catholic denomination were three times more likely to consume alcohol (AOR: 3.1, 95% CI: 0.98-9.10, p = 0.05). Relative to comparable populations of adults whose alcohol consumption rates were already known, alcohol consumption among particularly male and Roman Catholic teachers in greater was high. It is recommended that school-based interventions should focus on male teachers.

Abstract Background The global reputation of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has led universities in China to conduct online teaching. However, the actual feedback from medical teachers and students regarding online education remains unclear. Methods A prospective questionnaire survey examined the current opinions of online education from teachers and students at the Medical School of Tongji University. Results A total of 488 valid questionnaires were collected (223 males, 45.7%; 265 females, 54.3%), including 394 students (80.7%) and 94 teachers (19.3%). Most teachers and students were “in favor of online teaching,” had “positive views for online education,” were “satisfied with online teaching,” and “expected for regular online education,” although students thought that “too much learning tasks had been assigned” (90.4% teachers vs. 43.1% students, P < 0.001) and “less teaching effect than in offline classes” (68.1% teachers vs. 43.4% students). Compared to female counterpart, male students had higher “learning interest” (27.6% vs. 14.9%), “learning attention” (29.2% vs. 14.4%), “learning efficiency” (30.2% vs. 16.7%), and “better learning effect” (27.6% vs. 15.3%). Furthermore, male students had a significantly rise in attendance rate. Compared with male teachers, female teachers had less “experience in online educational course recording” (25.9% vs. 50%) and “past training for online teaching” (53.7% vs. 77.5%). Furthermore, they tended to be more “resistant to online teaching” (44.4% vs. 22.5%) and less “ready for online teaching” (70.4% vs. 87.5%). There was no significant difference in the acceptance of online teaching among teachers in different age groups. Conclusions Most teachers and students supported and were satisfied with the implementation of online education during the pandemic. Although teachers were less adaptable to online education, they still had positive opinions. Sex influenced the acceptance of online teaching. Male teachers and students showed better adaptability than their female counterparts. Although online teaching has advantages, it still cannot completely replace traditional offline teaching. As online education is a trend for future learning, universities should make more efforts to improve it, especially to provide more attention to female teachers and students.

Abstract: Today, the older generation is the fastest growing population in the world. At the same time, older people represent a significant labor resource. With the increase in the retirement age, the question of developing measures to preserve and strengthen the professional health of workers is becoming acute. Objective of the study: to assess the gender characteristics of the level of health and the prevalence of behavioral risk factors for the lifestyle of teachers of a medical university of pre-retirement and retirement age in order to develop measures to preserve the working capacity and professional qualifications of this contingent of workers. The study involved 169 teachers of a medical university aged 55-70 years. A complex of anthropometric measurements, blood pressure assessment was carried out. With the help of the author's questionnaire, behavioral health risk factors were studied. The assessment of the incidence rate was carried out based on the results of periodic medical examination of employees. Significant differences were revealed in most indicators of morpho-functional status, representing the risk of developing diseases of the cardiovascular system in male teachers compared with female teachers. Male teachers are characterized by a high prevalence of behavioral risks and a low degree of implementation of the principles of a healthy lifestyle, which generally determines an increased risk of chronic non-communicable diseases. Analysis of the gender characteristics of chronic pathology showed that at the time of the medical examination, more chronic diseases were revealed among women. Among men, deviations in laboratory tests were significantly more often detected and at the same time they did not go to doctors with symptoms that were associated with these changes, in contrast to women who undergo the necessary therapy prescribed by a doctor.

For children aged 0-6, learning is the most intense period. A preschooler is the person most interested in taking care of her child's mother. Preschool education helps children think and express themselves. Studies (Melisa Korkmaz) have shown that children who receive pre-school education have higher school attendance rates and school success in their future academic life than children who do not receive pre-school education. In this context, the importance of the teacher in the pre-school period is undeniable. No matter how good the physical conditions of the school are, no matter how carefully the program is prepared, it is the teacher who is with the children all day and implements the program (Erişen, 2004).  In Turkish society, the care and responsibilities of the child are accepted as the mother's duty. As a result, the number of female teachers in pre-school education institutions is higher than the number of male teachers. Depending on this idea, the number of female teachers in pre-school education institutions is higher than male teachers.     According to TUIK 2014 data, the rate of male preschool teachers in Turkey is 5.34%. Fagan (1996) brings more appropriate solutions to the conflicts between children and copes with aggressive behaviors in the classroom management of male preschool teachers. In addition, today, reasons such as divorce, death and working conditions cause the mother to assume the role of a single parent. This situation reduces the possibility of a child growing up in such an environment to establish a close relationship with a male figure. (Cameron, 2001: 430). It is necessary to disseminate the view that men can take an active role in child care and education, to support male teachers who work or will work in pre-school education institutions, and to raise public awareness about the requirements of men in this field (McBribe & Rane, 1997; 14, Lamb, 2001: 30-31). ). In line with all this information, the problem of this research was determined as "parent perceptions of pre-school teachers regarding gender".
