The purpose of this study was to determine the attitudes of the trainees registered in Pedagogical Formation Certificate Program (PFCP) towards the Instructional Technologies and Material Design (ITMD) course and to analyze whether these attitudes differed according to gender, department and level of grade. The data were obtained from totally 110 trainees including 78 females and 38 males. In addition to the personal information form, the Attitude Scale towards ITMD Course was used as the data collection tool. The scale had three sub-dimensions as effectiveness, admiration and denial, and the internal consistency coefficients calculated for the current implementation were between .99 and .77. It was understood that the trainees regarded the ITMD course effective enough to be considered good, admired the course at a moderate level, and did not neglect the course very much. It was noticed that female trainees found the course more effective and admired it more rather than the male trainees. The trainees in the English group were determined to consider ITMD course more effective than the trainees in the philosophy group. Moreover, it was proved that the students in the English group admired more rather than the trainees in the theology and philosophy groups. The graduate trainees regarded ITMD course more effective than the ones who were still students.   Keywords: instructional technologies, information technologies, instructional technologies and material design, attitude towards itmd course;

PurposeThis study aims to identify the innovative training programmes used by the hotel industry in India to support guests and employees during the Covid-19 pandemic. It also discusses the role of contemporary training programmes in boosting consumer confidence and enhancing their re-visit intentions.Design/methodology/approachThe study centres on 28 virtual in-depth interviews (conducted via video conferencing applications) with hotel industry stakeholders in India based on two sets of semi-structured questionnaires. The study included hotel training managers, operations staff and some hotel guests. Interviewees were selected using a non-random purposive sampling method.FindingsResults suggest that the implementation of new training programmes has significantly and positively influenced the re-visit intentions of guests. The study highlights the fact that the majority of guests prefer hotels that have stringent hygiene and sanitation protocols and where the hotel staff appeared to be more concerned about the safety of the guest during service delivery. Hotels were also found to be implementing various innovative programmes, especially Covid-19 awareness training and environmental management certificate training among other specialist programmes.Originality/valuePrior research on pandemics (such as Middle-Eastern respiratory syndrome [MERS], severe acute respiratory syndrome [SARS], Spanish flu, etc.) has been undertaken and the role of training as a response, but there is little prior work on the role of these confidence-building training programmes in the Indian context and their influence on the re-visit intentions of guests after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract Employers sponsor general training if they can get an information advantage about the skills of trainees. This advantage might vanish if credible external institutions grade successful training completion. We argue that despite a certificate, training firms can retain an information advantage and can positively select training completers because the training certificate does not capture all relevant skill dimensions. Training firms can get an information advantage on the non-certified skills such as soft skills. We show that the information advantage about non-certified skills can explain why training firms pay higher wages for training completers than outside firms and why employers are able to keep a positive selection of training participants.

AbstractPurposeThis study examined the effectiveness of a formal postdoctoral education program designed to teach skills in clinical and translational science, using scholar publication rates as a measure of research productivity.MethodParticipants included 70 clinical fellows who were admitted to a master’s or certificate training program in clinical and translational science from 1999 to 2015 and 70 matched control peers. The primary outcomes were the number of publications 5 years post-fellowship matriculation and time to publishing 15 peer-reviewed manuscripts post-matriculation.ResultsClinical and translational science program graduates published significantly more peer-reviewed manuscripts at 5 years post-matriculation (median 8 vs 5, p=0.041) and had a faster time to publication of 15 peer-reviewed manuscripts (matched hazard ratio = 2.91, p=0.002). Additionally, program graduates’ publications yielded a significantly higher average H-index (11 vs. 7, p=0.013).ConclusionThese findings support the effectiveness of formal training programs in clinical and translational science by increasing academic productivity.

Medication Therapy Management (MTM) has been a way for pharmacist to enhance their position as an integral member of the health care team as the need for improved clinical and economic outcomes in relation to the US health care system became apparent. MTM Certificate training programs are provided by numerous organizations. Collaboration Practice Agreements (CPA) are gaining significance as the role of the pharmacist is expanding in the care of patients as part of a multidisciplinary health care team. One major hurdle that many pharmacists are faced with is receiving reimbursement for the services provided. The Medicare Modernization Act of 2003 recognized that pharmacists play an important role in the management of patient care and that pharmacists bring an expertise and knowledge that will help to identify and resolve patient medication therapy problems.
