Dynamic Decision Making, Distance Functions, and Productive Efficiency

This chapter discusses three concepts of the directional distance function in the presence of internal adjustment costs, designated as adjustment cost directional distance functions. These functions are the building blocks of technical inefficiency measures. Duality between an adjustment cost directional distance function and an indirect optimal value function allows the construction of economic measures of inefficiency. Duality is established between the adjustment cost directional input function and the optimal current value function of the intertemporal cost minimization problem. From this dual relation, a dynamic cost inefficiency measure is derived and decomposed into technical inefficiency and allocative inefficiency. Similarly, dynamic input-output measures of inefficiency are derived from the adjustment cost directional technology distance function and duality between this function and the current profit function.

Partial actions of weak Hopf algebras on coalgebras

In this work, the notions of a partial action of a weak Hopf algebra on a coalgebra and of a partial action of a groupoid on a coalgebra will be introduced, together with some important properties. An equivalence between these notions will be presented. Finally, a dual relation between the structures of a partial action on a coalgebra and of a partial action on an algebra will be established, as well as a globalization theorem for partial module coalgebras will be presented.

Dual Relation Semi-Supervised Multi-Label Learning

Multi-label learning (MLL) solves the problem that one single sample corresponds to multiple labels. It is a challenging task due to the long-tail label distribution and the sophisticated label relations. Semi-supervised MLL methods utilize a small-scale labeled samples and large-scale unlabeled samples to enhance the performance. However, these approaches mainly focus on exploring the data distribution in feature space while ignoring mining the label relation inside of each instance. To this end, we proposed a Dual Relation Semi-supervised Multi-label Learning (DRML) approach which jointly explores the feature distribution and the label relation simultaneously. A dual-classifier domain adaptation strategy is proposed to align features while generating pseudo labels to improve learning performance. A relation network is proposed to explore the relation knowledge. As a result, DRML effectively explores the feature-label and label-label relations in both labeled and unlabeled samples. It is an end-to-end model without any extra knowledge. Extensive experiments illustrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our method1.

ОБРЯД В РУССКОЙ И КЫРГЫЗСКОЙ ЛИНГВОКУЛЬТУРАХ КАК ОТРАЖЕНИЕ НАЦИОНАЛЬНОГО МЕНТАЛИТЕТА

Аннотация. Статья посвящена экстралингвистическому исследованию обрядов, связанных с водой в русской и кыргызской культурах. Обряды сопутствуют многим событиям жизни человека, отражают национальный характер, являются частью культуры народа. Лингвокультурологический анализ обрядовой лексики показал, что в русской и кыргызской культурах существует двойственное отношение к воде: с одной стороны, вода жизненно необходима, а с другой, вода как стихия - разрушительна. В статье отмечается, что обряды и традиции народа отражают все этапы жизни человека: от рождения и до кончины. Подчеркивается, что обрядовая лексика, репрезентирующая концепт «вода», широко представлена как в русском, так и в кыргызском языках. Ключевые слова: обряд, традиция, лингвокультура, концепт, ритуал, текст, концептосфера, менталитет, ментальность, Аннотация. Rites associated with water in the Russian and Kyrgyz cultures. Ceremonies accompany many events of human life, reflect the national character, are part of the culture of the people. Linguo- cultural analysis of ritual vocabulary showed that in Russian and Kyrgyz cultures there is a dual relation to water: on the one hand, water is vital necessary, but on the other hand, water as an element is destructive. In the article it is noted that the rites and traditions of the people reflect all stages of life person: from birth to death. It is emphasized that ritual vocabulary representing the concept of "water" is widely represented as in Russian and Kyrgyz languages. The search and matching process in the housing market

Purpose This paper aims to study the relationship between the rental and selling prices, a very important topic that forms the fundamentals of real estate markets. Design/methodology/approach This theoretical paper makes use of a search and matching model of the housing market. The search and matching models are the benchmark models of the “matching” markets, such as the labour market and the housing market, where trade is a decentralised, uncoordinated and time-consuming economic activity. Findings Unlike the previous related literature, where this relation is usually analysed in the context of the present value equation, this paper shows the existence of a “dual” relation between rental and selling prices as follows: one in the homeownership market and another one in the rental market. This “dual” relation connects the rental and homeownership markets and allows to get equilibrium in both markets with positive house prices. Research limitations/implications Several topics could be deepened for making the paper richer and more interesting, although at the cost of much more mathematics. First of all, the introduction of specific functional forms for both the rent function and the sale price function, so as to calculate both the elasticity of rent with respect to sale price and the elasticity of sale price with respect to rent. In this way, it would be possible to understand how each market (rental and homeownership) reacts to shock and policies that affect the other market. Practical implications In general, this framework could help policymakers to design housing policy reforms that take into consideration the effects on both markets. Indeed, some policies could have positive effects on rental markets but perverse effects on homeownership markets and vice versa. Originality/value None of the existing and related works of research have considered how to take advantage of the search and matching approach to derive both a “rent function” and a “sale price function” that connect closely the rental and homeownership markets.
