The paper seeks to examine the communicative aspect of modern Chinese and Russian urban subcultures. The nominations of urban social groups representing young people in Russia and China and their connection to modern communication practices are viewed from the perspective of urban communication studies, which provides an opportunity for a new comprehension of issues connected with verbal and nonverbal constituents of urban discourse. The indicates that the subcultures in the Russian urban landscape are reflected in such nominations as фрики (freaki), мажоры (majory), хипстеры (hipstery), брейк-дансеры (break-dancery), байкеры (bikery), etc. The Chinese subcultures are known under such names as shamate, xiaoqingxin, tuyayawenhua, erciyuanyawenhua, egaoyawenhua and many others. We argue that in both countries the unity of social subgroups is based not so much on ideological preferences, but rather on lifestyles, hobbies and interests, many of them formed under the Western influence. The subcultures discussed in the research represent a broad panorama of Chinese and Russian social life. They reflect the sociocultural dynamics of attitudes, values and lifestyles influenced by globalization but acquiring nationally specific features, which transform them into unique sociocultural phenomena.

The problem of research is the importance and need for learning communication as a teaching discipline in studies for classroom teaching, which is theoretically studied from the angle of university teaching, study of communication science and reflective practice of teachers and on an empirical level based on students’ perception of classroom teaching. The research started from the general assumption that the contents from communication science are important for performing the teaching profession, but that it is insufficiently studied in the studies for class teaching. We also started from special assumptions that the research will single out the factors that indicate the importance of learning content from communication studies in studies for primary education and that it will be determined that there is no significant difference in students’ assessments of the importance and need for learning content from communication studies. For class teaching depending on the enrolled year of study. In order to determine that, in October 2021, on a sample of 108 students of the Study Program for Classroom Teaching at the Faculty of Teacher Education in Prizren - Leposavic, the research presented in this paper was conducted. Data collected by the CSTD-SCC Scalar (〈 = .845) were processed by factor analysis and analysis of variance. Factor analysis singled out three factors: 1) the diversity of content, 2) the importance of learning and 3) the need to learn content from communication studies in the classroom. Analysis and analysis of variance showed that there is no significant difference in the assessments of primary school students about the importance and need to learn content from communication studies in primary school studies, depending on the enrolled year of study. He concludes that teaching contents in communication science are important for future teachers, that they are differently represented in study programs for classroom teaching in the Republic of Serbia, that students generally agree in assessments of the importance and need to learn communication science in classroom studies, which indicates the need to change and supplements of study programs for class teaching with teaching contents in communication science and the need for professional development of teachers in order to acquire the necessary knowledge in communication science. Keywords: teaching profession, teacher, communication in the classroom, socialcommunication competencies, clear and loud expression, quality listening.

Teaching democratic citizenship has never been more vital, particularly given the dismissive attitude and direct attempts to undermine democratic institutions exemplified by the Trump administration. In addition, traditional approaches to teaching citizenship foreground the underlying values of self-governance, knowledge of the different branches of government, and the skills for behaving within this system (i.e., voting) but lack a broader intellectual framework to guide those actions (Parker, Teaching democracy: Unity and diversity in public life, 2003). Parker, a critical multicultural educator, argued that this approach has rendered participatory citizenship superfluous and ignores more central concerns, namely, how people can live together justly while honoring their multiple individual and group identities (i.e., gender, race, class, religion, etc.). This essay focuses on the task of living together justly and offers one example of how this might be promoted through the communication studies curriculum.

This paper is interdisciplinary and combines the research perspective of medical studies with that of media and social communication studies and theological studies. The main goal of this article is to determine [from arguments on all sides of the issue] whether, and to what extent, statements issued by a religious authority can be used as an argument in the COVID-19 vaccination campaign. The authors also want to find answers to the questions of how the pope’s comments affect public opinion when they concern the sphere of secular and everyday life, including issues related to health care. The main method used in this study is desktop research and the analysis of the Roman Catholic Church’s teaching on vaccination and on the types and significance of the pope’s statements on various topics. The auxiliary methods are sentiment analysis and network analysis made in the open source software Gephi. The authors are strongly interested in the communication and media aspect of the analyzed situation. Pope Francis’ voice on the COVID-19 vaccination has certainly been noticed and registered worldwide, but the effectiveness of his message and direct impact on Catholics’ decisions to accept or refuse the COVID-19 vaccination is quite questionable and would require further precise research. Comparing this to the regularities known from political marketing, one would think that the pope’s statement would not convince the firm opponents of vaccination.
