The article is dedicated to the study of paradigmatic relations of adjectives on the semantic level in the scientific style. Paradigmatic ties in the nucleus and the first periphery are determined and compared. The object of study is adjectives in the scientific style. The subject of the study is paradigmatic ties on the semantic level. The goal is to investigate and compare paradigmatic ties of adjectives in the scientific style. The topicality is caused by the necessity of study of paradigmatic ties of adjectives in the scientific style as they have not been investigated yet. In our study the statistical method was used such as the correlation analysis which helps to determine intensity and character of ties. The more there is the dependence between signs, the more the quantity of coefficient of correlation will approach to 1. In case of the absence of the statistical dependence the quantity of coefficient of correlation will be about zero or equals zero. Using the quantity of usage LSG of adjectives were divided into the nucleus and the first periphery. Due to the correlation analysis paradigmatic ties of LSG of adjectives within the nucleus and within the first periphery and between them were found and analyzed. In our study the statistical method was used such as χІ -which shows presence or absence of a tie. The coefficient K indicates the force (intensity) of ties. Due to it the ties are divided into strong, mean and weak ones. Statistically meaningful ties of lexical-semantic groups (LSG) of adjectives were analyzed. A scientific novelty is in distinguishing the nucleus and the first periphery and investigating paradigmatic ties between them. Conclusions. LSG of adjectives within the first periphery create not a big number of ties in comparison with the number of ties with LSG of adjectives of the nucleus. LSG of adjectives “Natural and physical state” and “Space value of distance and duration” are distinguished as making up the biggest number of ties with nucleus. The study shows that LSG of adjectives within of the first periphery are more independent between themselves and are able to have free ties. Paradigmatic ties of LSG of adjectives within the nucleus have the tendency to dependence and a mutual influence.

The Grande-Motte port and seafront development project on the French Mediterranean coastline entailed evaluating wave impact loads (pressures and forces) on the new beach seawall and comparing the resulting scour potential at the base of the existing and new seawall. A physical model was built at ARTELIA's hydraulics laboratory in Grenoble (France) to provide insight into: wave and setup at the beach, the evolution of scour over time at the front of the wall, quasi-static and impulsive wave force intensity and distribution on the wall, and water and sand overtopping discharges over the wall. Light-weight sediment physical model and pressure and force measurements were performed with scale 1:18. The paper will discuss the pros and cons of a physical model versus numerical/ empirical modelsRecorded Presentation from the vICCE (YouTube Link): https://youtu.be/AeW3SPwDtVg

The present work demonstrates how a light structure can be easily designed through Topology Optimization even including complex analysis and sizing criteria such as hyperelastic Neo-Hookean materials for nonlinear analysis and aggregated stress constraints. The SIMP approach was adopted and two different strategies were analysed using an in house versatile MATLAB code. MMA was used as reference optimizer (in structural optimization) whereas a unified aggregation and relaxation method was adopted to deal with stress constraints. Feasibility was analyzed from the viewpoint of allowable stress verification. Two test cases are then studied: a morphing airfoil (for aeronautical applications) and a geometric inverter (for mechanics and bio-medical applications). For both, a hyperelastic Neo-Hookean material was chosen. Finally a complementary study on the effects of constraints and the input force intensity is also presented.

Cell migration is a complex phenomenon that plays an important role in many biological processes. Our aim here is to build and study models of reduced complexity to describe some aspects of cell motility in tissues. Precisely, we study the impact of some biochemical and mechanical cues on the cell dynamics in a 2D framework. For that purpose, we model the cell as an active particle with a velocity solution to a particular Stochastic Differential Equation that describes the intracellular dynamics as well as the presence of some biochemical cues. In the 1D case, an asymptotic analysis puts to light a transition between migration dominated by the cell’s internal activity and migration dominated by an external signal. In a second step, we use the contact algorithm introduced in [15,18] to describe the cell dynamics in an environment with obstacles. In the 2D case, we study how a cell submitted to a constant directional force that mimics the action of chemoattractant, behaves in the presence of obstacles. We numerically observe the existence of a velocity value that the cell can not exceed even if the directional force intensity increases. We find that this threshold value depends on the number of obstacles. Our result confirms a result that was already observed in a discrete framework in [3,4].

The article deals with the study of semantic combinability of adjectives with nouns in the English belle-lettres discourse. This aim covers distinguishing and analysis of the factors that influence on combinability. Linguistic, extralinguistic factors, the belle-lettres discourse are considered. The object of the investigation is semantic combinability of adjectives with nouns in the texts of belle-lettres discourse. The subject of the investigation is statistically meaningful ties on the semantic level. ʺ In our study the statistical method was used such as χ² – which shows presence or absence of a tie. In such a way standard elements of contextual sets of lexical-semantic groups (LSG) of adjectives were found. The coefficient K indicates the force (intensity) of ties. Due to it the ties are divided into strong, mean and weak ones. Statistically meaningful ties of LSG of adjectives with LSG of nouns were analyzed. Strong ties were considered and factors that influence on the force of a tie were studied. Distinguishing of standard ties for every LSG of adjectives gave a possibility to determine peculiarities of the given ties for the belle-lettres discourse. Predominance of the language factor influence over the belle-lettres discourse factor causes a strong tie though it is not considered characteristic or has a specific feature which is appropriate to the belle-lettres discourse though such signs are distinguished in the belle-lettres discourse as LSG of adjectives ʺAge, timeʺ with LSG of nouns ʺPiece of time, day, period, seasonʺ, ʺGeographical positionʺ with Geographical objects, administrative unitsʺ, ʺSpace value as to the length, distance, durationʺ with ʺPiece of time, day, period, seasonʺ, ʺComposition, material of object ʺ with ʺThings, mechanismsʺ. The force of a tie is influenced by both language factors and needs and demands of the the belle-lettres discourse. The following ties were distinguished which are characteristic for the belle-lettres discourse: LSG of adjectives ʺColour and brightnessʺ with LSG of nouns ʺParts of the bodyʺ, ʺAppearance of a manʺ with ʺParts of the bodyʺ, signs of clothes as to colour and material, ʺTemperatureʺ with ʺNatural phenomenaʺ. Specificity of combinability of adjectives with nouns on semantic level is caused not only by linguistic and extralinguistic factors but also the influence of the belle-lettres discourse.
