Abstract Reexamination of the lectotype of Thamnaraea? granulosa, genotype of Stromatorhiza, shows it to be a stromatoporoid. Astrostylopsis is considered to be a more recent synonym of Stromatorhiza. The genus is established as the type of a new family, the Stromatorhizidae, to which also belong the genus Trupetostromaria and certain Liassic forms classified with the spongiomorphs by LeMaitre.

Abstract The genera Ardeosaurus and Eichstaettisaurus (Reptilia, Sauria, Gekkonoidea) from the upper Jurassic of Franconia (Germany) are defined comparatively. They are assembled under the same family, the Ardeosauridae (incl. Eichstaettisauridae and Yabeinosauridae). The genus Homoeosaurus digitatellus Grier 1914 is assigned to Ardeosaurus. This could perhaps be an adult A. brevipes, but it is kept provisionally in the species A. digitatellus (Grier).
