This paper presents the design of all-normal dispersion photonic-crystal fiber optimized for pulse-preserving supercontinuum generation near 800 nm. The supercontinuum generation is analyzed numerically addressing the role of pump pulse energy and the pump wavelength deviation from the zeroth point of third-order dispersion. We have also shown that supercontinuum generated in designed ANDi-PCF from a few nanojoule 100 fs pulses can be efficiently compressed down to a sub-10-fs pulse with a simple quadratic compressor.

In this paper, we propose a new type of optical waveguide called silicon nanowire embedded equai-angular spiral photonic crystal fiber (SN-SPCF) using fully vectorial finite element method, where closely arranged arrays of air holes act as cladding and nanosize silicon material at the centre acts as core. We show that the proposed nanowire embedded PCF of 400 nm core diameter exhibits high anomalous group velocity dispersion (-3148 ps2/km), small third order dispersion (-8.6591 ps3/km) and high nonlinearity (443.2 W-1m-1) at 1550 nm wavelength. Soliton-effect pulse compression of femtosecond pulses in a silicon nanowire-spiral photonic crystal fiber at 1550 nm is numerically studied. We demonstrate a pulse compression of 75 fs input pulse to about 4 fs by the simultaneous actions of both linear effects (a large anomalous group velocity dispersion and a small third order dispersion) and the nonlinear effect (an effective high nonlinearity).

We investigate analytically and numerically the formation of temporal localized structures (TLSs) in an all photonic crystal fibre resonator. These dissipative structures consist of isolated or randomly distributed peaks in a uniform background of the intensity profile. The number of peaks and their temporal distribution are determined solely by the initial conditions. They exhibit multistability behaviour for a finite range of parameters. A weakly nonlinear analysis is performed in the neighbourhood of the first threshold associated with the modulational instability. We consider the regime where the instability is not degenerate. We show that fourth-order dispersion affects the threshold associated with the formation of bright TLSs. We estimate both analytically and numerically the linear and nonlinear corrections to the velocity of moving temporal structures induced by spontaneous broken reflection symmetry mediated by third-order dispersion. Finally, we show that third-order dispersion affects the threshold associated with the moving TLSs.
