At the Society's 1952 Annual Business Meeting, a resolution was passed by the membership to the following effect: "Be it resolved that the Executive Committee shall encourage the establishment of local organizations of the Society for the purpose of extending and further developing interest in applied anthropology. Each such local organization may select such officers as are necessary for arranging programs and conducting necessary business."
