The article is devoted to the disclosure of approaches to the application of innovative methods that are implemented using cloud services during the teaching of the discipline “Information, Library and Archival Studies” for students majoring in 029 “Information, Library and Archival Studies” at the first (bachelor’s) level at Zaporizhzhia National University in the conditions of mixed education. It was found that a mixed form of education requires from students higher education stable motivation, the ability to self-organization while mastering new knowledge and skills. At the same time, the use of online technologies, in particular cloud services, opens wide opportunities for the implementation of both educational and upbringing tasks during classes and independent work of students. It is proved that in modern conditions of rapid technical and technological modernization, development of new media, creation of a single information space studying the traditional discipline of library and information specialists “Standardization in information, library and archival affairs” is complicated, which requires transformation of teaching methods to create conditions for high-quality mastering of basic knowledge in professional activity. In an environment of globalisation and rapidly expanding deployment of interactive digital communication, this paper takes a complex systems approach to the mapping of large scale global indicators onto electronic flows of information and intent. It argues that democracy is being transformed by online technologies, and that governments which embrace and encourage citizen inputs and monitoring of public information can establish vital groundwork for more effective forms of global governance. Growing awareness of issues that transcend jurisdictions makes such transformations both necessary and increasingly acceptable. The prism for this bird’s eye view is the Australian Government’s evolution in its uses of information communication technologies (ICTs) for citizen engagement.

Computer and related technologies, in particular the Internet, are an integral part of our life. In connection with the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standards to educational organizations, high school teachers need to own competencies related to the use of information and computer technologies (ICT) in their professional activity, and in case of music universities — music and computer technologies. ICT not only simplifies and accelerates many forms of the teachers’ work, but also allows to find new ways of working in the educational process. In particular, interaction with students thanks to ICT becomes real-time even in case of distance learning. In this regard, Internet technologies, particularly cloud services — web sites providing various technical capabilities to users without installing any software — are becoming increasingly important for teachers. A significant feature of such tools is their accessibility from any device and from anywhere with Internet access, so the necessary materials are always available to the teacher and, if needed, to other educational process participants. This article considers some cloud services, which can become effective tools in the professional activities of a high school teacher on group disciplines.

Online technologies were met with initial enthusiasm in the UK following the publication of the Dearing Report (1997). However, this excitement soon became subdued due to disappointing outcomes and unfulfilled expectations regarding the online programmes. Considering the importance that the online component has on a blended learning programme, this chapter argues that the challenge in higher education is to get learners to want to engage as opposed to have to engage and therefore a sense of enjoyment should be added to the blend along with a sound pedagogy and an efficient technology. This chapter endeavours to discern some underlying grounded theory based on classic psychology that might underpin the efficient design of a blended learning programme and offers pragmatic considerations that might help to achieve it.

This paper presents a critical review and synthesis of research literature in higher education exploring teachers' conceptions of blended learning and their approaches to both design and teaching. Definitions of blended learning and conceptual frameworks are considered first. Attention is given to Picciano's Blending with Purpose Multimodal framework. This paper builds upon previous research on blended learning and conceptual framework by Picciano by exploring how objectives from Picciano's framework affect teachers' approaches to both design and teaching in face-to-face and online settings. Research results suggest that teachers use multiple approaches including face-to-face methods and online technologies that address the learning needs of a variety of students from different generations, personality types and learning styles.

Introduction:Disaster medicine has been identified as a fundamental discipline for health professionals. In Italy, the role of physicians during disaster response is officially recognized by the Italian Code of Medical Ethics and by the Ministry of Education. Nevertheless, few Italian medical schools include this discipline in their curricula.Aim:With the aim of teaching basic knowledge of disaster medicine to Italian medical students, Research Center in Emergency and Disaster Medicine (CRIMEDIM) and Italian Medical Students’ Association (SISM) developed DisasterSISM, a nationwide training project in disaster medicine. Methods:DisasterSISM consists of three courses: Basic, Advanced, and Train-of-Trainers (ToT). The Basic courses are managed by medical students who are trained during the one-week intense ToT. All courses are delivered using innovative training methodologies, such as e-learning, peer education, table-top exercises, and virtual reality simulations. Results:From 2012 to 2018, a total of 122 courses (111 Basic, 5 Advanced, and 6 ToT) have been delivered. DisasterSISM reached 37 out of 45 Italian medical schools, training more than 2,500 students. A survey conducted after the end of each course showed that participants considered the knowledge in Disaster Medicine essential for their future profession, regardless of the specialty chosen. Students also expressed their appreciation about the blended-learning approach, with a predilection for virtual reality simulations. The comparison between the entrance and the final exam scores showed a significant increase in knowledge.Discussion:In six years, DisasterSISM reached the majority of Italian medical schools, providing disaster medicine knowledge to hundreds of undergraduates. Considering the fast growth and diffusion of the project, the significant increase of knowledge, and the positive feedback received from participants, we suggest that the DisasterSISM model be implemented in other countries to widely disseminate information about prevention and disaster preparedness among medical students and health professionals.
