Gradient nanostructured metallic materials with a nanostructured surface layer show immense potential for various industrial applications because of their outstanding mechanical, fatigue, corrosion, tribological properties, etc. In the past several decades, various methods for fabricating gradient nanostructure have been developed. Nevertheless, the thickness of gradient microstructure is still in the micrometer scale due to the limitation of preparation techniques. As a traditional but potential technology, rotary swaging (RS) allows gradient stress and strain to be distributed across the radial direction of a bulk cylindrical workpiece. Therefore, in this review paper, we have systematically summarized gradient and even nano-gradient materials prepared by RS. We found that metals processed by RS usually possess inverse nano-gradient, i.e., nano-grains appear in the sample center, texture-gradient and dislocation density-gradient along the radial direction. Moreover, a broad gradient structure is distributed from center to edge of the whole processed rods. In addition, properties including micro-hardness, conductivity, corrosion, etc., of RS processed metals are also reviewed and discussed. Finally, we look forward to the future prospects and further research work for the RS processed materials.

: Isatin is an endogenous and a significant category of fused heterocyclic component, widely been a part of several potential biologically useful synthetics. Since its discovery, tons of research work has been conducted with respect to the synthesis, chemical properties, and biological and industrial applications. It contains indole nucleus having both lactam and keto moiety which while being a part of a molecular framework exerted several biological effects, viz.; antimicrobial, antitubercular, anticonvulsant, anticancer etc. Isatin derivatives are synthetically significant substrates, which can be utilized for the synthesis of huge diversified chemical entities of which few members emerged to be a drug. The reason for this review is to provide extensive information pertaining to the chemistry and its significance in altering several pathological states of isatin and its derivatives. A Structure Activity Relationships study thus developed through a gamut of scientific information indicates the importance of mostly electron withdrawing groups, halogens, nitro, alkoxy and to a minor extent groups with positive inductive effects, such as methyl at position 1, 5, 6 and 7 of isatin in alleviating several clinical conditions. It is also observed from the survey that the presence of two oxo groups at position 2 and 3 sometimes become insignificant as fusion with a heterocycle at those position resulted in a biologically relevant compound.

Nowadays, most of the application depends on arithmetic designs such as an adder, multiplier, divider, etc. Among that, multipliers are very essential for designing industrial applications such as Finite Impulse Response, Fast Fourier Transform, Discrete cosine transform, etc. In the conventional methods, different kind of multipliers such as array multiplier, booth multiplier, bough Wooley multiplier, etc. are used. These existing multipliers are occupied more area to operate. In this study, Wallace Tree Multiplier (WTM) is implemented to overcome this problem. Two kinds of multipliers have designed in this research work for comparison. At first, existing WTM is designed with normal full adders and half adders. Next, proposed WTM is designed using Ladner Fischer Adder (LFA) to improve the hardware utilization and reduce the power consumption. Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) performances such as slice Look Up Table (LUT), Slice Register, Bonded Input-Output Bios (IOB) and power consumption are evaluated. The proposed WTM-LFA architecture occupied 374 slice LUT, 193 slice register, 59 bonded IOB, and 26.31W power. These FPGA performances are improved compared to conventional multipliers such asModified Retiming Serial Multiplier (MRSM), Digit Based Montgomery Multiplier (DBMM), and Fast Parallel Decimal Multiplier (FPDM).

Microfluidics, the study of fluid flow through structures with micrometer scale dimensions, is an increasingly important discipline within a number of commercial and industrial applications. One focus of active microfluidic research at the Stanford University Microscale Heat Transfer Laboratories (MHTL) is mass and heat transport in two-phase flows, which has applications in the cooling of integrated circuits and the management of water created in PEM fuel cells. At its core, two-phase microfluidics is the study of interactions between moving liquids and/or gases and/or solids (though not necessarily stationary) structures. Advanced confocal microscopy, with its ability to visualize and measure both flow and structure on a single instrumental platform, will certainly play a key role in the continuing development of microfluidic devices.

Recent advancements in mechatronics has led to tremendous development of application of robots for industrial applications involving high health hazards, rough working conditions and difficult to reach locations. Robot assisted welding is one such high risk operation for human being. The industrial arc welding robots are either mounted on the floor, table or on overhead rails. In this scenario, the jobs to be welded are brought to shop floor. However, the on-sight joining of big pipes and structures with precision and speed, demands for mobility of welding robot. In this research work, a novel concept of mounting 5-dof welding robot on the omni-directional platform (Omni-WMR) is implemented to provides immense maneuvering mobility to the manipulator. This paper presents the combined dynamic model of omnidirectional mobile robot for welding operation to study the effect of dynamic interaction between manipulator and mobile platform. Dynamic interaction is carried out to find the variation in torque at manipulator link due to the motion of platform as well as its location on the platform. In addition, the variation in torque developed at platform wheels due to positioning the manipulator at two different locations on platform is accessed. For this, two case studies have been discussed to study the effect of dynamic interaction between manipulator and omni-directional platform.
