Modern transport systems are developed following universal design, considering the requirements of people with disabilities. Despite the detailed legal regulations in construction and industry, there are still many barriers, e.g., architectural barriers, making it challenging to move around in wheelchairs. Designs of wheelchairs with special capabilities provide a chance to overcome these barriers. The article aimed to present various methods of climbing stairs by wheelchairs with special abilities. The review of works was related to the research work of the scientific team from the Faculty of Transport of the Warsaw University of Technology. Against the background of other works, the author's own design solution was presented.

In the assumptions regarding to the transport policy both at the level of country and Europe there is the concept of sustainable development of transport. Warsaw University of Technology in cooperation with Poznan University of Technology performs research work concerning the shaping of environmentally friendly transport system – Project EMITRANSYS. In this project, one of the conditions is to reduce exhaust emissions by means of transport. The paper presents the reasons for the testing of the exhaust emissions under Real Driving Emissions testing (RDE). Research potential of Institute of Combustion Engines and Transport at Poznan University of Technology in the area of road testing of passenger and heavy-duty vehicles has been presented in the paper. Example test results have been shown in the aspect of the emission-related classification of vehicles.

The purpose of the research work is to analyze the norms of Federal laws, as well as the laws of the Russian Federation's constituent entities, devoted to the definitions and classification of the concepts “cultural heritage”, “historical and cultural monuments”, “cultural values”. Conclusions obtained in the course of the research: based on the study of current legislation, it is concluded that the definitions of “cultural values”, “cultural property”, “objects of cultural inheritance” contained in various normative legal acts differ in content. Based on the research, the author proposes the concept of “cultural values”.

Early detection of breast abnormalities remains the primary prevention against breast cancer despite the advances in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Presence of mass in breast tissues is highly indicative of breast cancer. The research work presented in this paper investigates the significance of different types of features using proposed neural network based classification technique to classify mass type of breast abnormalities in digital mammograms into malignant and benign. 14 gray level based features, four BI-RADS features, patient age feature and subtlety value feature have been explored using the proposed research methodology to attain maximum classification on test dataset. The proposed research technique attained a 91% testing classification rate with a 100% training classification rate on digital mammograms taken from the DDSM benchmark database.

Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) work with information and control technologies providing the core of ITS functions. Some of these technologies like loop detectors are well known to transportation professionals. However, there are a number of less familiar technologies and system concepts that are keys to ITS functions. Although information and control technologies act as a technical core of ITS, human factors also remain vitally important and potentially very complex issues. The process of operating ITS is influenced by a number of random factors. Along with an assessment of dependence upon separate random factors, the classification of those in the whole hierarchical structure of operating ITS is presented. Statistical information on operating ITS is renewed and replenished in the course of time. With the growth of information amounts, the costs of storing them also increase. Therefore, the article presents relevant algorithms for obtaining required statistical assessments with the least statistical information. It is deduced that while modelling the process of operating ITS, an analytical description of random factors applying non‐parametric assessment is suitable.


The Intrusion is a major threat to unauthorized data or legal network using the legitimate user identity or any of the back doors and vulnerabilities in the network. IDS mechanisms are developed to detect the intrusions at various levels. The objective of the research work is to improve the Intrusion Detection System performance by applying machine learning techniques based on decision trees for detection and classification of attacks. The methodology adapted will process the datasets in three stages. The experimentation is conducted on KDDCUP99 data sets based on number of features. The Bayesian three modes are analyzed for different sized data sets based upon total number of attacks. The time consumed by the classifier to build the model is analyzed and the accuracy is done.

Managing mobility, both of people and goods, in cities is a thorny issue. The travel needs of urban populations are increasing and put pressure on transport infrastructure. The Moroccan cities are no exception and will struggle, in the short term, to respond to the challenges of the acceleration of the phenomenon of urbanization and the increase in demand for mobility. This will inevitably prevent them from turning into smart cities. The term smart certainly alludes to better use of technologies, but smart mobility is also defined as “a set of coordinated actions intended to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and environmental sustainability of cities” [1]. The term mobility highlights the preponderance of humans over infrastructure and vehicles. Faced with traffic congestion, the solutions currently adopted which consist of fitting out and widening the infrastructures, only encourage more trips and report the problem with more critical consequences. It is true that beyond a certain density of traffic, even Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) are not useful. The concept of dynamic lane management or Advanced Traffic Management (ATM) opens up new perspectives. Its objective is to manage and optimize road traffic in a variable manner, in space and in time. This article is a summary of the development of a road infrastructure dedicated to Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV), the first of its kind in Morocco. It aims to avoid the discomfort caused by trucks in the urban road network of the city of Casablanca. This research work is an opportunity to reflect on the introduction of ITS and ATM to ensure optimal use of existing infrastructure before embarking on heavy and irreversible infrastructure projects.

One of the prime factors in ensuring a consistent marketing of crops is product quality, and the process of determining ripeness stages is a very important issue in the industry of (fruits and vegetables) production, since ripeness is the main quality indicator from the customers' perspective. To ensure optimum yield of high quality products, an objective and accurate ripeness assessment of agricultural crops is important. This chapter discusses the problem of determining different ripeness stages of tomato and presents a content-based image classification approach to automate the ripeness assessment process of tomato via examining and classifying the different ripeness stages as a solution for this problem. It introduces a survey about resent research work related to monitoring and classification of maturity stages for fruits/vegetables and provides the core concepts of color features, SVM, and PCA algorithms. Then it describes the proposed approach for solving the problem of determining different ripeness stages of tomatoes. The proposed approach consists of three phases, namely pre-processing, feature extraction, and classification phase. The classification process depends totally on color features (colored histogram and color moments), since the surface color of a tomato is the most important characteristic to observe ripeness. This approach uses Principal Components Analysis (PCA) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithms for feature extraction and classification, respectively.

Current satellite data retrieval systems retrieves data using latitude, longitude, date, time and sensor parameters like wind, cloud etc. To achieve concept based satellite data retrieval like Storm, Hurricane, Overcast and Frost etc., requires ontological concept descriptions using satellite observation parameters and concept based classification of satellite data. The current research work has designed and implemented a two phase methodology to achieve this. The phase 1 defines ontology concepts through satellite observation parameters and phase 2 describes ontology concept based satellite data classification. The efficiency of the methodology is been tested by taking the Kalpana satellite data from MOSDAC and weather ontology. This achieves concept based retrieval of satellite data, application interoperability and strengthen the ontologies. The current methodology is implemented and results in concept based satellite data classification, storage and retrieval.

The purpose of this article is to research and to evaluate the risk factors of the transport system of Ukraine. The article examines the state of the transport system of Ukraine. The classification of specific risks of the transport system has been developed in two areas: the nature of occurrence and in relation to the transport system. The conceptual model of comprehensive research of the factors of economic risk has been proposed. It includes 4 modules. The approaches to the identification of the factors and indicators for assessing the economic risks of transport systems at the national and regional levels have been formed. In the result the comprehensive evaluation of the risk factors of regional transport system of Ukraine has been carried out. Identification of risks at the national and regional transport system is necessary for the effective strategy of the industry development through quantitative risk analysis which enables to give a real assessment of their own resources and capabilities in relation to the state (and needs) of the external environment. The rational choice of the strategies from a variety of options should be made on this basis.
