Kundusuk rock art site (“Pisanitsa Kundusuk”) is a unique object of rock art in the Western Sayan Mountains. The rock drawings were examined by the authors in 2020. The rock with the drawings is located on the right bank of the Amyl River. Sixteen stones with images of anthropomorphic faces without the contour of the “Dzhoi” type were revealed. The drawings date back to the early Bronze Age and refl ect the artistic traditions of the Okunev culture. The object marks one of the centers of both land and river ancient communications. Apparently, the site was an ancient cult place. Here ritual actions were performed and anthropomorphic objects of worship were depicted with mineral paint to successfully overcome river and other obstacles. Faces could refl ect spirits of a place, a river, mark the ethno cultural identity of ancient artists.

Modern processes of the evolution of ethnic identification of different nations require a constant search for new approaches to the explanation of emerging phenomena. The primordialist approach to the study of ethnicity, which is classical in Russian sociology, cannot explain many of the processes occurring within ethnic groups. One such group is the Chuvash people, whose ethnic identification has undergone significant changes since the late nineteenth century, associated with changes in writing, urbanization, and the emergence of their own political institutions. It is a constructivist approach to the study of ethnicity, which emphasizes the consideration of the dynamics of ethnic processes and their historical evolution, is appropriate which will help to explain this changes. The Chuvash people in this case represent a unique object for study. As the largest predominantly orthodox Turkic ethnic group, it differs greatly from its neighbors. The study of the ethnic identification of the Chuvash people from the perspective of the constructivist approach to ethnicity should be given closer attention, in order to solve the problems faced by the scientific community.

Abstract We report the discovery of a unique object of uncertain nature—but quite possibly a disintegrating asteroid or minor planet—orbiting one star of the widely separated binary TIC 400799224. We initially identified the system in data from TESS Sector 10 via an abnormally shaped fading event in the light curve (hereafter “dips”). Follow-up speckle imaging determined that TIC 400799224 is actually two stars of similar brightness at 0.″62 separation, forming a likely bound binary with projected separation of ∼300 au. We cannot yet determine which star in the binary is host to the dips in flux. ASAS-SN and Evryscope archival data show that there is a strong periodicity of the dips at ∼19.77 days, leading us to believe that an occulting object is orbiting the host star, though the duration, depth, and shape of the dips vary substantially. Statistical analysis of the ASAS-SN data shows that the dips only occur sporadically at a detectable threshold in approximately one out of every three to five transits, lending credence to the possibility that the occulter is a sporadically emitted dust cloud. The cloud is also fairly optically thick, blocking up to 37% or 75% of the light from the host star, depending on the true host. Further observations may allow for greater detail to be gleaned as to the origin and composition of the occulter, as well as to a determination of which of the two stars comprising TIC 400799224 is the true host star of the dips.

The article examines constitutional and legal problems of the study of the object composition of land relations. Analysis of scientific views in the national legal doctrine on interpreting the meaning of the term “land” is carried out. It is concluded that the basic principles of land relations are declared in the Constitution of Ukraine, and their analysis enables us to argue that a land is a unique object of legal relations. In the Constitution of Ukraine, the term “land” is used in several meanings, namely as the object of property rights of the Ukrainian people; the object of property rights of citizens, legal entities and the state; the object of the law of the territorial community; the object of special protection by the state. Thus, land relations have a particular subject and object composition. The specific features of the land as an object of legal relations declared in the Constitution of Ukraine determine the content of land relations.

A photographic album is an intimate and unique object that traditionally has a significant and personal meaning to the maker. This thesis project presents an alternative method to displaying albums with the intention of preventing further wear and tear. By scanning the pages and creating a website or database that can be viewed by those who have Internet access, these cherished albums can be shared without the excessive handling that is characteristic to their nature. Custom-designed enclosures were constructed for each one as a physical housing for added protection. Six family photograph albums were scanned at the beginning of this project; a website has been created with the purpose of exhibiting each whole page in addition to the individual photographs.

Adults often act considerately towards others by, for example, leaving the last cookie on a plate or by stepping aside on a busy sidewalk. What do young children infer from such considerate behavior? In two preregistered studies, we assess how young children evaluate (in)considerate behavior by showing them animated videos in which targets make decisions that either leave or limit choice options for others. Specifically, in the videos one target decides to pick a unique object (e.g., picking the only toy boat) and therefore leaves no choice for someone else to pick that object. In contrast, the other target leaves a choice for someone else by picking a non-unique object (e.g., picking a toy train of which there are three). Study 1 (N = 372 6-to-12 year old children) showed that with age children evaluate considerate others (i.e., who leave a choice for others) as nicer and more trustworthy than inconsiderate others (i.e., who do not leave a choice for others). Moreover, children’s evaluations were specific to the social domain, as children of all ages evaluated both targets as equally smart. Study 2 (N = 99) focused on younger children (5-to-7-year-olds) and showed that when videos were presented in a simpler manner they also evaluated considerate people as nicer. These studies extend developmental research on prosocial behavior and suggest that considerate behavior conveys a clear social signal early in life.

Among the great variety of geological relics of Ukraine, one of the most attractive is the Rybalsky Quarry, located in the city of Dnipro, and well known outside Ukraine. First of all, it is famous for the Mandrykivski Layers exposed in one of the ridges of the Quarry back in the 1970s, although there are many other important peculiarities of the geological structure of the Quarry which attract scientists from Ukraine, Germany, France, Netherlands, Russia and other countries. There are full data on the history of discovery and survey of the Mandrykivski Layers from their discovery by Valerian Domger in 1882 to current studies that reveal various aspects of geological structure of the Quarry, the results of study of different groups of fossil fauna, compare them with the fauna of the Paris Upper Eocene basin and other well- known locations. Particularly in the Rybalsky Quarry, thanks to the author`s efforts, the Layers received the status of “layers with geographic name”, as confirmed by the decision of Cenozoic Commission of the National Stratigraphic Committee of Ukraine in 2001. New fragments of the section of subaerial and subaqueous deposits of the Quaternary deposits were found and their composition, structure and complete stratigraphic content were studied. The research allows us to consider it typical for the Middle Prydniprovia. Fluvioglacial and lake-glacial deposits of the Dnipro glaciations in the Quarry exposed for the second time in 25 years, but this is the first time when their genetic origin, position in the section and lithological-facies peculiarities were determined. Thick layer of sands embedded on the roof of the Mandrykivski Layers were identified to the fifth or Hadzhybeiska terrace of the Dnipro, in the upper part of which there were notable siliceous-clayey-ferruginous formations or lateral crust (ferruginous crusts). The studies of the layer of brown-green and red-brown clays in the roof of the Mandrykivski layers allows us to presume their marine origin. In this case, they are underwater weathering crust (terra rossa) developed in the process of halmyrolysis or are the product of dissolution of carbonate silt enriched with detritus of mollusks, corals and other inhabitants of the warm Mandrykivske Sea.

Abstract The radio nebula W 50 is a unique object interacting with the jets of the microquasar SS 433. The SS 433/W 50 system is a good target for investigating the energy of cosmic-ray particles accelerated by galactic jets. We report observations of the radio nebula W 50 conducted with the National Science Foundation’s Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array in the L band (1.0–2.0 GHz). We investigate the secular change of W 50 on the basis of the observations in 1984, 1996, and 2017, and find that most of its structures were stable for 33 yr. We revise the upper-limit velocity of the eastern terminal filament by half to 0.023 c, assuming a distance of 5.5 kpc. We also analyze observational data from the Arecibo Observatory 305 m telescope and identify the H i cavity around W 50 in the velocity range 33.77–55.85 km s−1. From this result, we estimate the maximum energy of the cosmic-ray protons accelerated by the jet terminal region to be above 1015.5 eV. We also use the luminosity of the gamma-rays in the range 0.5–10 GeV to estimate the total energy of accelerated protons below 5.2 × 1048 erg.
