ABSTRACT The material for this investigation comprises 46 female rat embryos given various hormone treatments. The embryos have been sectioned serially and stained with a combined haematoxylin-eosin-orange-G stain. In the ventral cloacal remnant an increased growth takes place in the area of Bartholin's rudiments after testosterone treatment. The author points out that with the single doses used it has been possible to study the sensitivity to sex hormones of the different phases in the development of the rat vagina.
