AbstractA lemma is obtained which guarantees that non-expansive mappings on contractive spaces have fixed points. An example shows that Schauders's fixed point theorem cannot be extended to contractive spaces, but a theorem for contractive spaces, analogous to a result of B. N. Sadovskii on convex spaces, is derived from the lemma. Finally, some local results for ε-chainable contractive spaces are given.

A new coincidence point theorem is proved for a pair of multivalued mappings operating between G-convex spaces. From this theorem, a generalisation of the classical Fan-Glicksberg fixed point theorem is established.

A common fixed point theorem of S.L. and S.P. Singh is generalized by weakening commutativity hypotheses and by increasing the number of functions involved.

A fixed point theorem of Fisher and Sessa is generalized to locally convex spaces and the new result is applied to extend a recent theorem on invariant approximation of Sahab, Khan, and Sessa.

The aim of this paper is to obtain a fixed point theorem for a sequence of mappings satisfying a Lipschitz type condition. As compared to the analogous results, some mappings of the present theorem need not satisfy any noncommutativity conditions and therefore our results generalize a number of well-known fixed point theorems in the existing literature.

AbstractIn this paper, we introduce the notion of an F-weak contraction and prove a fixed point theorem for F-weak contractions. Examples are given to show that our result is a proper extension of some results known in the literature
