Mixed ligand complex formation by copper ion: Stability constants of copper-oxalate-malonate, copper-oxalate-succinate and copper-oxalate-maleatecomplexes

The mixed ligand complex formation by copper ion with some dicarboxylic acids has been investigated polarographically. The reduction of all the three systems under investigation(copper-oxalate-malonate, copper- oxalate-succinate and copper-oxalate-maleate) has been found to involve a two-electron reversible diffusion controlled wave. It has been shown that steric effects are considerable apart from statistical considerations. Electrostatic effects are, however, negligible.
