In this study, based on morphology and DNA barcodes, new records of water mites (Acari, Hydrachnidia) collected in August 2017 in North Iran are presented. Hydrodroma golestanica n. sp. (Hydrodromidae) is described as new for science. We also resurrect three previously synonymized species: Sperchon amuzgari Bader & Sepasgosarian, 1979 (Sperchontidae), Monatractides persicus Pešić & Saboori, 2004 and Torrenticola baueri Bader & Sepasgozarian, 1987 (Torrenticolidae).

Using published records and original data from recent research, a checklist was compiled of the water mite (Acari: Hydrachnidia) fauna of India. It includes 275 species in 70 genera and 25 families of water mites. The new records of 23 water mite species are reported; one species Wuria indica is described as new for science; a first description of the male is given for Wuria sumatrensis K. Viets, 1935. The present state of knowledge of the Indian water mite fauna is discussed.

New records of water mites (Acari: Hydrachnidia) from interstitial waters of Iran are presented. Fourteen species are recorded, of which six are new for the studied area. Kongsbergia persica sp. nov. is described; the zoogeographical and ecological significance of these new records is discussed.

The phytoseiid mites of the Cape Verde archipelago are scarcely known. We report the results of a survey conducted on the islands of Santiago and Santo Antão, where phytoseiids were collected from native, cultivated and invasive plants. Fourteen species were collected, four of which represent new records for the islands. One new species, Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) macrodactylus Ferragut sp. nov., is described and illustrated. We describe the unknown male of Amblyseius neolargoensis van der Merwe, provide a redescription of the male of Euseius fustis (Pritchard & Baker) and additional morphological information for all examined species.
