This paper reports four new species of the primitively segmented spider genus Songthela from Chongqing Municipality, China, based on morphological characters of both males and females: S. jinyun sp. nov., S. longbao sp. nov., S. serriformis sp. nov. and S. wangerbao sp. nov. We also provide the GenBank accession codes of mitochondrial DNA barcode gene, cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI), for the holotype of four new species for future identification.

The powder post beetles (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae) (except Lyctinae) of Yunnan Province in Southwest China are reviewed for the first time. Keys to twenty-six genera and fifty-two species from the Yunnan region are provided. One new genus and seven new species are described: Dinoderus (Dinoderastes) hongheensis sp. nov., Dinoderus (Dinoderastes) nanxiheensis sp. nov., Gracilenta yingjiangensis gen. nov., sp. nov., Calonistes vittatus sp. nov., Calophagus colombiana sp. nov., Xylodrypta guochuanii sp. nov. and Xylodrypta zhenghei sp. nov.. Fourteen species are recorded in China for the first time. The bostrichid fauna of Yunnan is compared with those of the neighbouring bio-geographically related Southeast Asian and Himalayan regions. The fauna has a close affinity with that of tropical Southeast Asia and a much weaker relationship with the Palearctic region. The differences with the Himalayas may reflect the separate evolutionary and complex geological history of the two areas.

Two new species of Acanthocinini are described from the Neotropical region: Leptostylus skillmani, from Guatemala; and Anisopodus morrisi, from French Guiana. Additionally, the holotype of Leptostylus lilliputanus Thomson, 1865 is illustrated for the first time.

The previously monotypic genus Proxima DeLong & Freytag, 1975 is reviewed and new diagnostic characters are added. The type-species Proxima ocellata DeLong & Freytag, 1975 described from the State of Espírito Santo, Brazil, is redescribed and newly recorded from the State of Minas Gerais. Also, two new species are described and illustrated: Proxima nigromaculata sp. nov. from the states of Espírito Santo, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Sul and Proxima meloi sp. nov. from the states of Bahia and Minas Gerais. An identification key to the species of the genus is provided.

Male imago of Baetodes traverae is described and its nymph is redescribed. The male imago is distinguished from the other known species of the genus by (1) abdominal tubercles absent, (2) turbinate eyes moderately large and not contiguous apically, (3) segment II of forceps without constriction, (4) coxal gills absent, and (5) abdominal tubercles absent. Baetodes traverae nymph is redescribed, with new illustrations aiming to improve the original description done by Mayo (1972). Its nymph has the following characters: (1) terminal filament very short, less than half the length of abdominal segment X, (2) labium with glossae very short, less than half the length of paraglossae, (3) labrum expanded laterally, with submarginal row of four setae, (4) coxal gills absent and (5) abdominal tubercles absent.

The new porcellanid crab Polyonyx deezi n. sp. is described on the basis of two specimens from Okinawa Island, Ryukyu Islands, southwestern Japan. The new species belongs to the P. sinensis group and may be closest to P. socialis Werding & Hiller, 2019 in the comparatively broad proportions of the carpi of the chelipeds and meri of the ambulatory legs. However, P. deezi n. sp. is immediately distinguished from all other congeners by the median branchial margins of the carapace being bluntly angular and produced laterally and the dorsal surfaces of the carapace and chelipeds with distinct protuberances. The occurrence of P. deezi n. sp. from coral reefs may be unusual in species of the P. sinensis group because many of the known species have been recorded from estuaries or coastal embayments. An identification key to the Indo-West Pacific species of the Polyonyx sinensis group is provided.

We describe and illustrate a new species of sucking louse, Hoplopleura tunneya new species, from the Australian pale field rat, Rattus tunneyi Thomas (Rodentia: Muridae). Currently, 22 species of the genus Hoplopleura Enderlein, 1904 (Phthiraptera: Anoplura: Hoplopleuridae) are known from Australian endemic rodents. Among the seven “new endemic” rodent species of the genus Rattus in Australia, R. tunneyi is one of five hosts to Hoplopleura lice. In addition, we give a list of all the species of Hoplopleura known from Australian endemic rodents. Including the introduced species Polyplax spinulosa, the total number of sucking louse species known from Australian endemic rodents is now 24.
