Abstract We investigate if the limits p → 0 or p → 1 for large percolation clusters at concentration p correspond to large lattice animals for fixed size s or fixed perimeter t, respectively. A numerical analysis for the asymptotic number of lattice animals with fixed large perimeter shows that the limit s → ∞ can be interchanged with the limit p → 0, but the two limits t → ∞ and p → 1 cannot be interchanged.
