On the Chow ring of K3 surfaces and hyper-Kahler manifolds

This chapter considers varieties whose Chow ring has special properties. This includes abelian varieties, K3 surfaces, and Calabi–Yau hypersurfaces in projective space. For K3 surfaces S, it was discovered that they have a canonical 0-cycle o of degree 1 with the property that the product of two divisors of S is a multiple of o in CH₀(S). This result would later be extended to Calabi–Yau hypersurfaces in projective space. The chapter also considers a decomposition in CH(X × X × X)ℚ of the small diagonal Δ‎ ⊂ X × X × X that was established for K3 surfaces, and is partially extended to Calabi–Yau hypersurfaces. Finally, the chapter uses this decomposition and the spreading principle to show that for families π‎ : X → B of smooth projective K3 surfaces, there is a decomposition isomorphism that is multiplicative over a nonempty Zariski dense open set of B.

Abstract In this paper we study Kähler manifolds that are strongly not relative to any projective Kähler manifold, i.e. those Kähler manifolds that do not share a Kähler submanifold with any projective Kähler manifold even when their metric is rescaled by the multiplication by a positive constant. We prove two results which highlight some relations between this property and the existence of a full Kähler immersion into the infinite dimensional complex projective space. As application we get that the 1-parameter families of Bergman-Hartogs and Fock-Bargmann-Hartogs domains are strongly not relative to projective Kähler manifolds.

We classify real hypersurfaces with isometric Reeb flow in the complex quadrics Qm = SOm+2/SOmSO2, m ≥ 3. We show that m is even, say m = 2k, and any such hypersurface is an open part of a tube around a k-dimensional complex projective space ℂPk which is embedded canonically in Q2k as a totally geodesic complex submanifold. As a consequence, we get the non-existence of real hypersurfaces with isometric Reeb flow in odd-dimensional complex quadrics Q2k+1, k ≥ 1. To our knowledge the odd-dimensional complex quadrics are the first examples of homogeneous Kähler manifolds which do not admit a real hypersurface with isometric Reeb flow.

Abstract Using $\delta $-invariants and Newton–Okounkov bodies, we derive the optimal volume upper bound for Kähler manifolds with positive Ricci curvature, from which we get a new characterization of the complex projective space.

Generalized m-parabolic K?hler manifolds are defined and holomorphically projective mappings between such manifolds have been considered. Two non-linear systems of PDE?s in covariant derivatives of the first and second kind for the existence of such mappings are given. Also, relations between five linearly independent curvature tensors of generalized m-parabolic K?hler manifolds with respect to these mappings are examined.
