Nordbec is an early-maturing, six-rowed, spring feed barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) cultivar developed by the Eastern Canada Barley Breeding Group, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. It has high yield, improved straw strength and resistance to powdery mildew. Nordbec is suitable for production in northern Ontario. Codac is a six-rowed spring feed barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) bred at the Crop Development Centre, University of Saskatchewan and registered by the Crop Science Department, University of Guelph for Eastern Canada. It was produced from a cross of Diamond/Duke and has shown adaptation to Eastern Canada. It has been high yielding, early maturing and has medium height straw. It has good resistance to scald, leaf rust, stem rust and the smuts, but is susceptible to powdery mildew. Morrison is a two-rowed spring feed barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) cultivar developed by the Plant Research Centre, Agriculture Canada, Ottawa. It was selected from a Rodeo/Gitane cross. Morrison has high yield, high test weight, large kernels, good lodging resistance and a high degree of resistance to powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis D.C.).
