AbstractWe study Shimura (special) subvarieties in the moduli space $$A_{p,D}$$ A p , D of complex abelian varieties of dimension p and polarization type D. These subvarieties arise from families of covers compatible with a fixed group action on the base curve such that the quotient of the base curve by the group is isomorphic to $${{\mathbb {P}}}^1$$ P 1 . We give a criterion for the image of these families under the Prym map to be a special subvariety and, using computer algebra, obtain 210 Shimura subvarieties contained in the Prym locus.

Applying geometric methods of 2-dimensional cell complex theory, we construct a Galois covering of a bimodule problem satisfying some structure, triangularity and finiteness conditions in order to describe the objects of finite representation type. Each admitted bimodule problem A is endowed with a quasi multiplicative basis. The main result shows that for a problem from the considered class having some finiteness restrictions and the schurian universal covering A', either A is schurian, or its basic bigraph contains a dotted loop, or it has a standard minimal non-schurian bimodule subproblem.

Abstract The theory of R. Crowell on derived modules is approached within the theory of non-commutative differential modules. We also seek analogies to the theory of cotangent complex from differentials in the commutative ring setting. Finally, we give examples motivated from the theory of Galois coverings of curves.

This chapter provides some background material on definable sets, definable types, orthogonality to a definable set, and stable domination, especially in the valued field context. It considers more specifically these concepts in the framework of the theory ACVF of algebraically closed valued fields and describes the definable types concentrating on a stable definable V as an ind-definable set. It also proves a key result that demonstrates definable types as integrals of stably dominated types along some definable type on the value group sort. Finally, it discusses the notion of pseudo-Galois coverings. Every nonempty definable set over an algebraically closed substructure of a model of ACVF extends to a definable type.
