We report an all-new nickel-containing POM catalyst [{β-SiNi2W10O36(OH)2(H2O)}4]24− (1) that catalyzes water oxidation under visible light. Multiple experiments confirm that 1 acts as an active and dominant catalyst rather than Ni2+ ions (aq) or nickel oxide during the water oxidation.
