AbstractThree species of aphids in the subfamily Eriosomatinae are recorded from poplar trees in southern Alberta. Asiphum sacculi Gillette caused galls on leaves of Populus tremuloides Michaux in the foothill and mountain areas. Thecabius populiconduplifolius Cowen caused galls on leaves of Populus balsamifera L. in the prairie area. Pemphigus bursarius L., the lettuce root aphid, caused galls on leaves of Populus nigra var. italica Meunchhausen in a garden. P. bursarius could become a pest of lettuce in southern Alberta.
