Phosphorylation of neuronal nitric oxide synthase at Ser847 increased its ROS generation activity and changed the ratio of NO to ROS to regulate intracellular redox signalling, which is involved in neuroprotection against apoptosis via HO-1 (haem oxygenase 1) expression in cerebellar granule neurons.
