The title compound, C17H24N2O3S, was synthesized in order to determine the relative configuration of the corresponding β-keto aldehyde. In the U-shaped molecule, the five-membered ring approximates an envelope with the methylene atom adjacent to the quaternary C atom being the flap. The dihedral angles between the four nearly coplanar atoms of the five-membered ring and the flap and the aromatic ring are 38.8 (4) and 22.9 (2)°, respectively. The bond angles around the S atom are in the range 104.11 (16)–119.95 (16)°. In the crystal, molecules are linkedviaN—H...O by hydrogen bonds, forming a chain along thea-axis direction.

The title compound, C17H24N2O3S, was synthesized in order to determine the relative configuration of the corresponding β-keto aldehyde. In the U-shaped molecule, the five-membered ring approximates an envelope, with the methylene C atom adjacent to the quaternary C atom being the flap, and the methyl and isopropyl substituents lying to the same side of the ring. The dihedral angles between the four nearly coplanar atoms of the five-membered ring and the flap and the aromatic ring are 35.74 (15) and 55.72 (9)°, respectively. The bond angles around the S atom are in the range from 103.26 (12) to 120.65 (14)°. In the crystal, molecules are linkedviaN—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming a chain along theaaxis.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C54H64O12S4, consists of one half of the molecule, which is located on an inversion centre. The heterocyclic six-membered ring adopts a distorted envelope conformation with the spiro C atom as the flap. In the crystal, molecules are linked by weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds with anR22(14) motif, forming a chain along theb-axis direction.

The title compound, C24H30O7, is a diterpenoid isolated from the seeds ofCaesalpinia minax. It consists of two cyclohexane rings (AandB), one unsaturated six-membered ring (C) and one furan ring (D). The stereochemistry of the ring junctures isA/B transandB/C trans. RingsAandBhave normal chair conformations whileCadopts a twisted half-chair conformation due to fusion to the furan ring which is planar [r.m.s. deviation = 0.0009 (2) Å]. In the crystal, hydroxyl O—H...Ocarbonylhydrogen bonds link the molecules into a chain structure extending along thea-axis direction.

The title compound, C17H15N5O4, was obtainedviathe condensation of 3-ethoxy-2-[2-(4-nitrophenyl)hydrazono]-3-oxopropanoic acid with 1,2-diaminobenzene. In the molecule, the dihedral angles between the acetate group and the two aromatic subunits (benzimidazole and nitrophenylhydrazone) are 7.35 (9) and 18.23 (9)°, respectively. Intramolecular N—H...O and N—H...N contacts occur. In the crystal, C—H...O and N—H...O hydrogen bonds link the molecules into chains along theb-axis direction.

In the title compound C19H11F3N2O2, the oxadiazole ring and the naphthalene ring system are approximately planar (r.m.s. deviations of 0.001 and 0.020 Å, respectively) and the oxadiazole ring makes dihedral angles of 13.11 (1) and 7.59 (1)° with the naphthalene ring system and the trifluorophenyl ring, respectively. In the crystal, C—H...N hydrogen bonds link molecules into chains along thea-axis direction, while C—H...F contacts form additional chains along theacdiagonal. These contacts generate sheets of molecules approximately parallel to the (011) plane.

In the racemic title compound, C23H20N2O4S, the sulfur atom is attached equatorially to the sugar ring with unequal S—C bonds, viz.: S—Cs= 1.808 (2) and S—Cp= 1.770 (2) Å (s = sugar, p = pyridyl). The dihedral angles between the pyridine ring and its attached phenyl groups are 42.24 (8) and 6.37 (14)°. In the crystal, a system of classical O—H...O and O—H...(O,O) hydrogen bonds links the molecules to form tube-like assemblies propagating parallel to thec-axis direction. Weak C—H...N interactions are also observed.

In the title compound, C21H16N2O2, the naphthalene fragment is twisted slightly, as indicated by the dihedral angle of 3.2 (2)° between the two six-membered rings. The pendant 4-methoxyphenyl ring makes a dihedral angle of 86.08 (6)° with the central six-membered ring of the 4H-benzo[g]chromene ring system. In the crystal, molecules are linked by pairs of N—H...N hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers which are linked into chains propagating in theb-axis direction by N—H...O hydrogen bonds.

In the octahydroxanthenedione unit of the title compound, C31H27NO6, the central dihydropyran ring shows an envelope conformation, while the bilateral cyclohexene and cyclohexane rings adopt a half-boat conformation and a chair conformation, respectively. The nitrobenzene ring is twisted with respect to the two benzene rings, making dihedral angles of 63.1 (1) and 63.0 (1)°. In the crystal, O—H...O hydrogen bonds link the molecules into supramolecular chains propagating along thea-axis direction.
