Piecewise interpolation polynomials are employed to approximate an arbitrary dynamic load. By extending the Duhamel integral, we can offer a numerical solution technique of the differential equation of motion in various kinds of material and damping cases in every branch of force-displacement relationship.

Abstract Recently derived structured model reference adaptive control (MRAC) method is employed for the active suppression of limit cycle oscillations for a typical wing section with structural nonlinearity. The structured MRAC takes advantage of the specific structure of governing equations for the general mechanical systems. The adaptive control method is implemented and tested in wind tunnel experiment to validate the performance. For comparison, results obtained with adaptive feedback linearization are also presented.
