Richard Alan Morton, Emeritus Professor of Biochemistry in the University of Liverpool, died peacefully at his home on 21 January 1977 after suffering a coronary attack a few days previously. He retained his fresh and enthusiastic approach to biochemistry right to the end. He had only recently returned from participating in an international symposium and at the time of his death was busy editing the proceedings of the Symposium.
