Seventy-eight eye of 65 patients were enrolled in this retrospective clinical study. Two-side ports are made with a 23-gauge stiletto knife. The irrigation handpiece is introduced into the anterior chamber through one side port and 27-gauge cystotome is introduced through the other one. Anterior capsular flap is created with cystotome. The capsular flap is vacuumed with a 25-gauge visco elastic’s cannula, which connected to the phaco machine vacuum. The continuous circular capsulorhexis (CCC) is completed with the using bimanual irrigation and aspiration system of phaco machine. Vacuum-assisted CCC technique was used in 78 cases of uncomplicated immature senile cataracts. All cases were done under sub-Tenon’s anesthesia. A complete CCC was achieved in all cases. Performing CCC with our technique is easy, safe, and cheap. It may be an alternative method to CCC by using OVD and forceps.

The gold standard of surgical treatment for superficial bladder tumor is transurethral resection (TUR). However, the procedure has drawbacks: it needs skill to avoid perforation of the bladder wall, while burns on the resected tissue are disadvantageous for histological examination. We developed an endoscopic ultrasonic aspiration system which is easy to manipulate and makes no burns on aspirated tissue. Furthermore, the equipment includes a coagulating system.Transurethral ultrasonic aspiration was performed in 19 cases of superficial bladder tumor with a prototype 24Fr Y-shaped rigid endoscope. The efficacy of bladder tumor aspiration was evaluated and ultrasonic aspiration was compared to the conventional TUR procedure. Bladder tumors less than 2 cm were aspirated very rapidly. Blood loss was minimal and the largest tumor aspirated in this series weighed 6.5 grams. Aspirated tissue was large enough for histological examination. Compared to conventional TUR, the ultrasonic aspiration has advantages of no burns on aspirated tissue and easy manipulation. Transurethral ultrasonic aspiration may be an alternative procedure for the treatment of superficial bladder tumor.

This report reviews 27 cases of children exhibiting functional hearing loss. The study reveals that most students were in the upper elementary grades and were predominantly females. These subjects were functioning below their ability level in school and were usually in conflict with school, home, or peers. Tests used were selected on the basis of their helping to provide early identification. The subjects' oral and behavioral responses are presented, as well as ways of resolving the hearing problem. Some helpful counseling techniques are also presented.
