Excess volumes for binary mixtures of toluene with 1-propanol, 2-propanol, 1-butanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, 1-pentanol, 1-hexanol, 1-heptanol, and cyclohexanol have been measured as a function of composition at 303.15 K by a dilatometric method. The excess volume curves for 1-propanol and 1-butanol are sigmoid. For other alcohols VE values are positive over the entire composition range.

Excess volumes, VE, of binary mixtures of β-picoline and γ-picoline with ethanol, n-propanol, and n-butanol have been measured as a function of composition at 308.15 K by a dilatometric method. The VE data are negative for all the mixtures studied here and suggest that the strong [Formula: see text] interactions outweigh those due to the breaking of the [Formula: see text] bonds.

Excess volumes of mixtures of 1-propanol +, 1-butanol +, 1-pentanol +, and 1-hexanol + diethylketone have been measured at 303.15 and 313.15 K. Of the four mixtures included here 1-propanol + diethylketone shows an inversion in sign in VE at 313.15 K. VE becomes more positive with increase in temperature.
