Weak electric and magnetic form factors for semileptonic transitions of baryons are calculated in a relativistic quark model with the independent quark confining potential of the form [Formula: see text], a > 0. The values obtained for g2/g1 for various decay modes compare well with the nonrelativistic results of Donoghue and Holstein. The values of g1/f1 extracted from our model calculations of f2/f1 in the Cabibbo limit are not very different from those of the experiment. The values calculated for f2/f1 for various semileptonic transitions also agree well with those of the MIT bag model. The SU(3) symmetry breaking does not degenerate appreciable departures in f2/f1 values from the corresponding Cabibbo values.

Semileptonic B(Bs, Bc) decays are investigated systematically in the light-cone QCD sum rules. Special emphasis is put on the LCSR calculation on weak form factors with an adequate chiral current correlator, which turns out to be particularly effective to control the pollution by higher twist components of spectator mesons. The result for each channel depends on the distribution amplitude of the the producing meson. The leading twist distribution amplitudes of the related heavy mesons and charmonium are worked out by a model approach in the reasonable way. A practical scenario is suggested to understand the behavior of weak form factors in the whole kinematically accessible ranges. The decay widths and branching ratios are estimated for several B(Bc) decay modes of current interest.

The decay widths for M1 transitions of mesons are calculated in a relativistic potential model of independent quarks with its parameters determined from a fit to the mass splittings of the ground state mesons in the strange, charm and bottom flavor sector. A more realistic calculation of the decay widths is performed beyond static approximation incorporating some momentum dependence due to recoil of the daughter meson. The model accounts well for the observed decay widths of light mesons and predicts decay rates of heavy mesons which are comparable with those of other model calculations.
