Ichnanthus adpressus, a new species of Poaceae regarded as endemic to cloud forests of two areas in Southern Minas Gerais, Southeastern Brazil, is described and illustrated. Morphological similarities between the new taxon and other species of Ichnanthus are discussed. SEM analysis of the upper anthecium in this new species reveales features not yet described for this genus. Comments about phenology, habitat, life history, distribution and conservation status are given.

We described a new species of Phyllanthus currently known from a single fragment of Ombrophilous Dense Forest in the Jequitinhonha Valley, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Phyllanthus pedicellatus is the second species of the genus with phylloclades found in the Atlantic Forest domain, once mostly Brazilian Phyllanthus with these kinds of specialized branches grow in open vegetation as “campos rupestres” and cerrado. The name is a reference to its remarkable pedicels of pistillate flowers. We present illustrations and photographs of the new species in its habitat, comments on its relationships to other Brazilian Phyllanthus, and its conservation status.

A new species, Praxelis minima, is described from the Minas Gerais State, Brazil. It appears to be closely related to P. kleinioides; illustrations, comments, distribution map, and conservation status for the new species are provided. Additionaly a new combination, P. decumbens based on Chromolaena decumbens, is proposed because of its conical receptacle and conspicuously asymmetrical carpopodium. A key to the species of Praxelis occurring in Minas Gerais is provided.

A new species of the Neotropical genus Agalliota Oman is described and illustrated from southeastern Brazil (Minas Gerais State). Agalliota maculata sp. nov. can be distinguished by its longitudinal pronotal stripes, anal tube processes, and aedeagus shape. With the addition of the new taxon, the number of Agalliota species is increased to eight, seven of them occurring in Brazil. A key to the known species of the genus is provided. Notes on the distinction between Agalliota and Agallia Curtis are given.

Soaresia forficula sp. nov. is described from the Mantiqueira Mountain Range, Minas Gerais State, southeastern Brazil. The genus Soaresia H. Soares, 1945 previously included only Soaresia uncina H. Soares, 1945, hitherto recorded only from the type locality, Penedo, Rio de Janeiro State, in the same mountain range. A second record of S. uncina is given from a nearby locality, Serrinha do Alambari. The combined distribution of the species of Soaresia is restricted to elevations between 700 and 1300 m, in the Tropical & Subtropical Moist Broadleaf Forests biome. An emended diagnosis of the genus is given and complements are given to the description of S. uncina, including the first illustrations and description of the male genitalia.

We describe a new species of Stachytarpheta endemic to the campos rupestres of the São José mountain range in south-central Minas Gerais, Brazil. Stachytarpheta sobraliana is characterized by canescent branches, abaxial leaf surfaces, bracts and calyces; leaves congested at the stem apices of adult individuals; ovate to orbicular leaf blades with rounded apices and rounded to obtuse bases; bracts with caudate, subulate apices; four-toothed calyces; and corollas with cobalt blue to purple tubes and sky blue to lilac laciniae. We provide a detailed diagnosis, a comparison with the morphologically most similar and sympatric species, a key to the informal group “commutata”, conservation status and photos of live specimens.
