In the Letter to the Editor by Goff and Oster entitled "Formation of 235-Nanometer Absorbing Substance during Glutaraldehyde Fixation," which appeared in the September issue of the Journal (Vol. 22, pp. 913-915, 1974), curve d in Figure 1 on page 913 was not satisfactorily reproduced in the printing process. The figure as it should have appeared is reproduced below.

Dr. Barton is an astute and well-informed reader whose comments are absolutely correct. The Committee on Youth report on "Venereal Disease and the Pediatrician" must have been prepared prior to publication of the revised recommendations of the U.S. Public Health Service for treatment of gonococcal infection. The dosages, routes, and alternatives which she has accurately quoted should be substituted for those in the footnote (p. 494) of the journal's September issue. Thank you, Leslie, for calling this to our readers' attention.

I was surprised for two reasons to see Dr Suter's letter to the editor in the September issue of Pediatrics sharply criticizing the article by Senturia et al.1 First, the article's authors had not been given the opportunity to respond to the letter before publication. Second, the letter quickly digressed from the article it was discussing, and turned to repeated mentions of "Christoffel's HELP." I assume Suter is referring to me and to the Handgun Epidemic Lowering Plan (HELP) Network. HELP is not mine, but I do chair its Steering Committee.
