A case in which a gastrocutaneous fistula developed after percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement is presented. The fistula was first managed conservatively, then was closed by argon plasma coagulation and hemoclip placement. The patient was observed and was discharged once the gastrocutaneous fistula closed.

AbstractThis case reports the use of a double-channel therapeutic gastroscope to permanently close a surgically failed chronic, benign tracheoesophageal fistula following endotracheal intubation in an elderly lady, using the over-the-scope-clip. Argon plasma coagulation seems essential in such smooth chronic fistulas to make the edges raw. A double-channel therapeutic gastroscope would be ideal for such cases, especially in larger fistulas.

Gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE) is an overt or occult source of gastrointestinal bleeding. Despite several therapeutic approaches have been successfully tested for preventing chronic bleeding, some patients present recurrence of GAVE lesions. To the best of our knowledge, we report the first case, of a 86-year-old woman who presented severe iron-deficiency anemia due to GAVE and showed recurrence of GAVE lesion despite the intensive argon plasma coagulation treatment. We performed endoscopic mucosal resection of bleeding GAVE with resolution of anemia.
