Zusammenfassung:Vom 22.–25. Oktober 2013 fand in Istanbul die European Conference on Information Literacy statt. Teilnehmer kamen nicht nur aus Europa, sondern aus der ganzen Welt. Organisatoren dieser Konferenz waren das Department für Informationsmanagement der Hacettepe Universität in Ankara und das Department für Informations- und Kommunikationswissenschaft der Universität Zagreb. Im zentralen Fokus der Konferenz stand die Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz sowohl in Bibliotheken als auch in der Hochschulbildung.

The European Conference on Information Literacy (ECIL) aims to bring together researchers, information professionals, employers, media specialists, educators, policy makers and all the other related parties from around the world in order to exchange knowledge and experience and discuss recent developments and current challenges in and related to information literacy (IL). ECIL’s mission is to provide an annual forum for individuals interested in IL, where they would share information about their research and practice. The fi rst conference was organized by Hacettepe University, in Istanbul, Turkey, between 22–25 October 2013. The sixth conference is on its way. It will be hosted by the University of Oulu, Oulu, Finland, from 24–27 September 2018.Both the international dimension and the research-practice nexus make ECIL diff erent from the other IL-focused events in Europe. As an event rather than an organization, ECIL is also situated in the enviable position of not being subject to bylaws or structure that might restrict its focus or voice.

Este estudo aborda o tema da information literacy na Itália. Com aumento do número de informações disponíveis para a população, o desenvolvimento da competência em informação ganha importância na atual sociedade. Este artigo identifica a literatura publicada sobre competência em informação na Itália, por meio de uma pesquisa bibliográfica. Aponta as fontes de informação com trabalhos disponíveis sobre a temática; identifica as principais publicações e verifica as temáticas apresentadas nas publicações científicas a respeito da competência em informação na Itália. Foram recuperados documentos nas bases de dados Directory of Open Access Journals, Library and Information Science Abstracts,          Information Science & Technology Abstracts e Web of Science e nos levantamentos publicados por Basili (2014) e Crocetti (2012). Os resultados foram complementados com dados obtidos na European Conference on Information Literacy dos anos de 2013 a 2018, o que perfez 136 documentos. Verificou-se crescente debate na área a partir dos anos 1990, que se intensifica após 2004 com pesquisadores italianos influentes como Carla Basili e Laura Ballestra. Os estudos italianos identificados relacionavam a competência em informação com diversos temas, entre eles: a preocupação com políticas públicas inexistentes ou insuficientes, ações práticas, questões éticas e ambientais, grupos vulneráveis, a área da saúde e tecnologia.

The European Conference on Information Literacy (ECIL) was this year organised in France, Saint-Malo in September 2017. The main theme of the conference was workplace information literacy. In this report, the authors discuss in depth the main topic of the conference. There is also included a brief description of the current state and interest on the information literacy research based on the conference papers presented at the conference. The next ECIL will be in Oulu, Finland on September 24–27, 2018.
