Η παρούσα διδακτορική διατριβή πραγματεύεται το ζήτημα της βέλτιστης τοποθέτησης και διαστασιολόγησης Μονάδων Διανεμημένης Παραγωγής (ΜΔΠ - Distributed Generation Units-DG units) προς εγκατάσταση σε ένα Δίκτυο Διανομής Ηλεκτρικής Ενέργειας (ΔΔΗΕ - Distribution Network-DN). Ως αντικειμενικός στόχος έχει τεθεί η μείωση απωλειών ενός ΔΔΗΕ. Αρχικά, παρουσιάζεται το πρόβλημα και η μαθηματική του μοντελοποίηση. Βάσει βιβλιογραφικής ανασκόπησης, γίνεται συγκριτική μελέτη διαφόρων πρακτικών που έχουν χρησιμοποιηθεί μέχρι τώρα, αναλυτικών, ευριστικών και μεταευριστικών, και αναδεικνύεται η πλέον κατάλληλη ως προτεινόμενη για την επίλυση του προβλήματος, όπως το τελευταίο περιγράφεται και στοιχειοθετείται στη παρούσα διατριβή. Αναφορικά με τη μοντελοποίηση των ΜΔΠ, αρχικά γίνεται η παραδοχή πως είναι ικανές μόνο για έγχυση ενεργού ισχύος, ενώ αργότερα δύνανται τη διαχείριση τόσο της ενεργού, όσο και της αέργου ισχύος στην έξοδό τους. Ακόμη, παρουσιάζεται το πρόβλημα Αντίστροφης Ροής Ισχύος (ΑΡΙ - Reverse Power flow-RPF) και ενσωματώνεται στη προτεινόμενη μέθοδο. Εξετάζεται επίσης και η επίδραση της μεταβλητότητας φορτίου στην επίλυση του εν λόγω προβλήματος. Στην πορεία εισάγεται και η έννοια των Παραγόντων Ικανότητας (ΠΙ - Capacity Factors-CFs) των Μονάδων Ανανεώσιμων Πηγών Ενέργειας (ΜΑΠΕ - Renewable Energy Resources-RES units) στην προτεινόμενη μέθοδο, ως ένας τρόπος να ενσωματωθούν τα γεωγραφικά χαρακτηριστικά και οι καιρικές συνθήκες που επικρατούν στην περιοχή που βρίσκεται το ΔΔΗΕ προς μελέτη. Το πρόβλημα τέλος επεκτείνεται κατά τη διάσταση του χρόνου προκειμένου να ληφθεί υπόψιν η χρονική μεταβολή του φορτίου, όπως και της παραγωγής των ΜΔΠ, οπότε και από τη γενικευμένη έννοια των ΜΔΠ γίνεται μετασχηματισμός σε αυτή των ΜΑΠΕ, μεταβαίνοντας με αυτόν τον τρόπο σε ολοένα και πιο ρεαλιστικές συνθήκες προσομοίωσης. Η προτεινόμενη μέθοδος, δοκιμάστηκε σε πρότυπες τοπολογίες δοκιμαστικών ΔΔΗΕ από τη διεθνή βιβλιογραφία, όπως τα δοκιμαστικά ΔΔΗΕ των 33, 69, 30 και 118 ζυγών. Μέσω των προσομοιώσεων που εκτελέστηκαν, αναδείχθηκαν ωφέλιμα συμπεράσματα, τόσο για το στρατηγικό σχεδιασμό τοποθέτησης και διαστασιολόγησης ΜΔΠ, ή πιο συγκεκριμένα ΜΑΠΕ, για τη βέλτιστη διείσδυση τους σε ένα ΔΔΗΕ, όσο και για την ίδια τη διαδικασία επίλυσης και περαιτέρω βελτίωσής της. Ακόμη, διαπιστώνεται πως για ένα επιτρεπόμενο ποσοστό ΑΡΙ, δεν ανατρέπεται το όφελος στη μείωση απωλειών από τη διείσδυση ΔΠ, ενώ με η επίδραση μεταβλητότητας φορτίου αναδεικνύει το σημαίνοντα ρόλο κάποιο ζυγών στα υπό εξέταση ΔΔΗΕ.

In the present scenario, world is progressing in the direction of energy crisis and severe ecological concerns due to the excessive utilization of non-renewable resources. Fossil fuel reserves are inadequate and produce hazardous geological contamination throughout the energy extraction. To meet such challenges, active amalgamation of renewable energy resources (RER) with distributed generation (DG) is the only way to progressing in future. Demand response scheme and battery storage is also essential for the reliable and consistent energy generation and efficient utilization. The role of RER in the evolution of DG is presented in this paper. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the barricades, reimbursements and influence of renewable energy based DG planning and framework. Moreover, a comparative assessment of renewable DG optimization based on optimization criteria and enhanced outcomes are evaluated for this futuristic atmospheric friendly approach.

As the issue of global warming is worsening, the shift towards using renewable energy resources is becoming more of an obligation rather than an option. With the continual decline in the cost of distributed small and medium-scale renewables and government sponsored programs, the outlook of growth of these converter-based resources remain high. Renewable energy resources are connected at the end-user terminals, in close proximity to the load at the distribution network. Such connection in the locale brings perceived benefits of transmission loss reduction, increased energy efficiency and improved voltage regulation. Yet, distributed renewable generation have noticeable effects on system’s power quality. This paper investigates the impacts of distributed wind generation on the voltage sag of distribution systems. A systematic approach is constructed to capture voltage sag occurrence incidents, due to wind generation connected at distribution nodes, and trigger the dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) into active operation mode to rectify the voltage sag problem. A test feeder system is represented using MATLAB/Simulink with wind turbines connected at several nodes of the system. A model for the DVR is developed in Simulink. It was then integrated with the test feeder system. Simulation results show that the incorporation of increased proportions of wind generation into the distribution network may give rise to negative operating conflicts as far as the voltage sag is concerned. Results manifest that the DVR is capable of effective correction of the voltage sag, caused by a three phase short-circuit fault, in presence of high penetration levels of variable wind generation connected at disparate locations in the distribution network.
