The purpose of this paper is to introduce the concept of weakly compatible maps in Menger space and prove a common fixed point theorem in this space.2010 Mathematics Subject Classification: 54H25.Keywords: Triangle norm; Menger space; Fixed point theorem; Weakly compatible mapsDOI: http://dx.doi.org/ 10.3126/kuset.v7i1.5417 KUSET 2011; 7(1): 9-17

First, we prove a common fixed point theorem using weakly compatible maps in 2-Menger space with t-norm of Hadzic type. Second, we prove a common fixed point theorem using the E.A. property along with weakly compatible maps. Further, we obtained a common fixed point theorem using the CLR property along with weakly compatible maps. At the end, we provide an application of our main theorem for four finite families of mappings.

In this paper, we prove a common fixed point theorem for a quadruple of mappings by using an implicit relation [6] and property (E.A) [1] under weak compatibility. Our theorem improves and generalizes the main Theorems of Popa [6] and Aamri and Moutawakil [1] .Various examples verify the importance of weak compatibility and property (E.A) in the existence of common fixed point and examples are also given to the implicit relation and to validate our main Theorem. We also show that property (E.A) and Meir-Keeler type contractive condition are independent to each other. .

We obtained a Presic type fixed point theorem for two pairs of jointly2k-weakly compatible maps in metric spaces. We also have given an example to illustrate our main theorem.
