The reactive intermediate generated by the reaction of alkyl isocyanides and dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates was trapped by 4-phenylaminocoumarin to produce dialkyl 2-cyclohexylamino-5-oxo-4 H,5 H-pyrano[3,2- c]chromene-3,4-dicarboxylates in good yields.

A new and efficient one-pot synthesis of polysubstituted pyrrole derivatives by three-component reaction between dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates, triphenylphosphine, 2-aminopyridin derivatives in the presence of arylglyoxals is described. The reactions were performed in dichloromethane at room temperature and neutral conditions and afforded high yields of products.

Protonation of the reactive intermediate produced in the reaction between trialkyl(aryl) phosphites and dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate by CH- acids such as indane-1,3-dione and N,N′-dimethylbarbituric acid leads to functionalised phosphonates in good yields.
