Four new Scythrididae species are described fromthe Eastern Palaearctic region. Scythris pamirica sp.n., S. balkhi sp.n., and S. brandti sp.n. were collected in North-Eastern Afghanistan, while S. elburzi sp.n.was collected in Northern Iran. The lectotype of S. paelopyga (Staudinger, 1880) is established here, and the male genitalia are described. Morphological affinities and differences of the new species are reported, and related to the scythridid taxa that are closer to them. New records of little known species from the Irano-turanian region are listed.

Xiphocentron is the most species-rich genus of the pantropical family Xiphocentronidae. Among its five subgenera, Antillotrichia is the most diverse and the only one to occur in South America and Antilles. In the present study, two new species of Xiphocentron (Antillotrichia) are described from southern Atlantic Forest, Brazil. Xiphocentron gwarakeraba sp. nov. is diagnosed by the very elongate inferior appendage not bearing spines and with a simple mesal sclerite; X. muelleri sp. nov. is diagnosed by the inferior appendage with its ventral margin produced posterad and distinctly truncate. New distributional records are provided for X. acqualume, X. jaguare, X. kamakan, and X. maracanan. Additional non-genital diagnostic characters are presented for X. jaguare, and intraspecific morphological variations of forewing fork II (R3 and R4) and male genitalia are described for X. maracanan.

Recent efforts with Malaise trap sampling in Serra dos Órgãos and Itatiaia, in Brazil, allowed us to identify and describe three new species from the first locality: Hylotribus humeralis sp. nov., H. nanico sp. nov. and H. queirozi sp. nov. New records of H. plaumanni Queiroz & Mermudes, 2014 for both localities and H. sublimis Queiroz & Mermudes, 2014 for the latter are also presented. We also describe morphological variability including aptery and microptery, and male genitalia, for H. plaumanni. We produce a new key to the species and discuss the species relationships and wing variation for the genus.

Platambus binliui sp. nov. from Sichuan Province, China, is described and illustrated. It belongs to the P. sawadai species group sensu Nilsson (2000). The new species differs from other species of this group by the larger body, punctation of the dorsal surface and shape of male genitalia. New records of members of the P. sawadai group from China are provided: Platambus micropunctatus Nilsson, 2003 (Guangdong), P. punctatipennis Brancucci, 1984 (Fujian, Guangdong, Guizhou, Jiangxi, Zhejiang), P. regulae Brancucci, 1991 (Yunnan), representing a new species for Chinese fauna, and P. wangi Brancucci, 2006 (Hubei). Habitus and median lobe photographs for all mentioned species are provided.

Abstract A preliminary list of the picture-winged flies known from Columbia is supplemented by 15 species based predominantly on the materials from the National Museum of Natural History, Washington, D.C., USA and now contains 28 species, including Xycores igniceps gen. & sp. n. from Venezuela and Colombia. The new genus belongs to the subfamily Otitinae and is preliminarily assigned to the tribe Cephaliini by the combination of the high clypeus, strongly widened palp, setulose vein R1, and ejaculator with short sperm pump and long fan-like apodeme. It clearly differs from other members of the tribe by the combination of elongate, narrow, apically truncated flagellomere 1, robust, mainly shining thorax with pair of microtrichose vittae, well developed proepisternal, postpronotal, acrostichal, 2 pairs of dorsocentral and scutellar setae, wing with entirely setulose vein R1 abdominal tergites devoid of microtrichia, sternites and abdominal pleura narrow, male genitalia with short epandrium, numerous (7–8) prensisetae arranged into a row along posterior margin, shallow hypandrium with pair of setulose pregonites, no postgonites or epiphallus, and an almost bare phallus with a pair of long spines submedially.

The Palaearctic and Indochinese species of the genus Dilophotes Waterhouse, 1879 are reviewed. Stenolycus Ohbayashi, 1956 is considered a junior synonym of Dilophotes. Stenolycus ohirai Ohbayashi, 1956 and Stenolycus vandykei Nakane, 1970 are transferred to Dilophotes. Twelve new species are described here: Dilophotes anthracinus sp. n., D. bhutanensis sp. n., D. bolavensis sp. n., D. holzschuhi sp. n., D. jendeki sp. n., D. kubani sp. n., D. laosensis sp. n., D. lizipingensis sp. n., D. luteus sp. n., D. moxiensis sp. n., D. pacholatkoi sp. n., and D. sausai sp. n. Most previously known species are redescribed and a key to all species is provided. Male genitalia and important external characters are illustrated.

AbstractA new trichodorid species, Trichodorus gilanensis n. sp. is described from a forest park in northern Iran. The new species is characterised in the male by three ventromedian cervical papillae with the anterior two at the level of the onchiostyle region, the posterior-most ventromedian procloacal supplement (SP1) at the level of the retracted spicule head, spicules smooth and manubrium continuous with shaft, and in the female by large triangular vaginal sclerotised pieces close to one another in lateral view, a barrel-shaped vagina, a transverse slit-like vulva in ventral view and a slightly swollen tail region. Three other trichodorid species found, T. primitivus, Paratrichodorus porosus and P.tunisiensis represent new records for Iran.

The aim of this work was to extend the taxonomic knowledge of the species of Anurogryllus Saussure, 1877 that occurs in the southern municipalities of Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. We found three different species, Anurogryllus tapes sp. nov. collected in municipalities of Canguçu and Capão do Leão, Anurogryllus patos sp. nov. from Capão do Leão and Anurogryllus toledopizai (de Mello, 1988) recorded from Canguçu, Capão do Leão e São Lourenço do Sul. Here we present the descriptions of morphology, male genitalia and calling songs.
