New data on the fauna of mayflies in the Anabar River basin are given. A total of eight species of Ephemeroptera have been identified in the fauna of North-Western Yakutia for the first time. Though the mayfly fauna in this region consists mainly of East Palaearctic species, the only seven of them are characterized by arctic-alpine distribution. In general, mayfly species richness of the studied subarctic and southern rivers of Yakutia is similar.

The Nitidula carnaria complex is defined to comprise three Palaearctic species: the widely distributed Nitidula carnaria (Schaller, 1783), N. maculosa Fairmaire, 1866 occurring in the eremial of North Africa and the Middle East, and a newly described N. obenbergeri sp. nov. from northern China, Mongolia and neighbouring territories of Kazakhstan and Russia. First records are given for Nitidula carnaria from Georgia, Pakistan and Tajikistan; N. flavomaculata Rossi, 1790 from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan; and for N. rufipes (Linnaeus, 1767) from Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, China (Shaanxi) and Russian Eastern Siberia. A lectotype of Nitidula latiplaga Solsky, 1876 is designated to fix its synonymy with N. flavomaculata Rossi, 1790 established by Jelínek & Audisio (2007). Habitus photographs of all species and an identification key are provided to facilitate identification of world Nitidula species. Finally, comments on the classification of four Neotropical taxa previously classified in the genus Nitidula are offered and the following changes are proposed: Mystrops bourgeoisi (Grouvelle, 1914), comb. nov., = M. gigas Kirejtshuk & Couturier, 2009, syn. nov.; and Catonura complanata (Germain, 1855), comb. nov., = Catonura ruficollis (Reitter, 1873), syn. nov., = Catonura rufithorax Reitter, 1883, syn. nov.

A new species—Docosia caucasica sp. n.—has been described from material collected from the Lesser Caucasus Mountains in Georgia (Sakartvelo). The new species belongs to a group of Palaearctic species characterized by distinct posterolateral processes of gonocoxites and apically modified setae at the posteroventral margin of the gonocoxites medially. Within the group, D. caucasica sp. n. is most similar to D. landrocki Laštovka and Ševčík, 2006 in having a similar outline of the medial process of posteroventral margin of the gonocoxites and the gonostylus. There is also a marked difference within the partial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 gene (COI) sequence of D. caucasica sp. n. and other Docosia spp. available in public databases. As the new species is described from a single male specimen only, the adequacy and code compliance of that are discussed.

The mature larvae and pupae of Anthonomus (Anthonomidius) rubripes Gyllenhal, A. (s. str.) incurvus (Panzer), A. (s. str.) conspersus Desbrochers des Loges, and A. (s. str.) latior Pic, are described for the first time. The immature stages of A. (Anthomorphus) pinivorax Silfverberg, A. (s. str.) pedicularius (Linnaeus) (larva only), A. (s. str.) rubi (Herbst) are redescribed. The previous description of A. (s. str.) pomorum (Linnaeus) is checked and updated with new data. Keys for the identification of species of 9 larvae and 10 pupae of Palaearctic species are presented. Additional information on the biology of some species is provided. Crataegus pinnatifida is established as a host plant for the first time for A. (s. str.) latior.

A new species from Turkey, Anteon lelejisp. nov. (Hymenoptera, Dryinidae), is described and illustrated. Its relationship with Palaearctic and Afrotropical species of Anteon is discussed. The new species is close to A. xericum Olmi & van Harten described from Yemen, and known also from other Afrotropical countries. The key to the Palaearctic species of Anteon is modified to include the new species. New records of Anteon species from Turkey are registered.

Species of the genus Toxeuma Walker, 1833 from Russia are reviewed. A new species, Toxeuma leleji Tselikh, sp. nov., is described from the Russian Far East. Toxeuma fuscicorne Walker, 1833 and T. styliclava (Hedqvist, 1974) are recorded for the first time from Russia; Toxeuma acilius (Walker, 1848) – for the first time for Western and Eastern Siberia and the European part of Russia; Toxeuma paludum Graham, 1959 – for the first time for Western and Eastern Siberia; Toxeuma subtruncatum Graham, 1959 – for the first time for Primorskii Region. An identification key to females of all Palaearctic species of Toxeuma is provided.

The Western Palaearctic species of Ptinomorphus Mulsant & Rey, 1868 (Coleoptera: Ptinidae, Eucradinae) described by M. Pic and synonymized under P.imperialis (Linnaeus, 1767) and P. magnificus (Reitter, 1880) are reviewed. A new species P. janae sp. nov. is described. P. tauricolus (Pic, 1906) and P. caucasicus (Pic, 1901) are removed from synonymy with P. magnificus; the status of P. perpulchrus (Obenberger, 1917) is clarified and P. angustior (Pic, 1896) is reinstated as a full species. P. angustior var. maculatus (Pic, 1922), which is currently treated as a synonym of P. imperialis is synonymised with P. magnificus. A key is provided to the Western Palaearctic species of Ptinomorphus.

A morphological revision of the Meloe (Meloe) species from the Palaearctic Region, including the Transitional Chinese area is published. Groups and subgroups of species from the Palaearctic Region are defined for the first time and relationships with Afrotropical and Nearctic groups of species are discussed. Twenty-five species are considered, mostly after the examination of the types, with brief descriptions and figures of diagnostic characters. Ten species, from China and the Himalayan region, are described: Meloe chinensis n. sp., M. distincticornis n. sp., M. himalayensis n. sp., M. kashmirensis n. sp., M. kaszabi n. sp., M. lateantennatus n. sp., M. orientalis n. sp., M. poggii n. sp., M. shapovalovi n. sp., and M. xuhaoi n. sp. Both Meloe aegyptius and M. rathjensi are referred to M. proscarabaeus as subspecies. Four new synonymies are pointed out: M. sapporensis Kôno, 1936 and M. tenuipes Jakowlew, 1897 = M. proscarabaeus exaratus Faldermann, 1832; M. medogensis Tan, 1981 = M. arunachalae Saha, 1979; M. patellicornis Fairmaire, 1887 = M. lobatus Gebler, 1832. Lectotype of M. subcordicollis is designated. M. formosensis is tentatively maintained as distinct species, with the suggestion that it could be a subspecies of M. gracilior. Meloe menoko is tentatively included in the intraspecific variability of M. auriculatus, a formal synonymy will be made by other authors. Meloe poteli is not considered in this revision, being the type is unavailable; other species (M. modestus, M. longipennis, M. elegantulus), previously considered in the nominate subgenus are excluded. A key to both sexes of the species is carried out and a catalogue of localities is recorded as Appendix 1. Ecological information about phenology, elevation range, host plants, is summarized in a table, and some biogeographical remarks are proposed.

Gorytes mikhailovi sp. nov. is described and illustrated from southeastern Kazakhstan (Zhambyl and Almaty Regions). The species groups of the Palaearctic Gorytes Latreille, 1804 (Hymenoptera: Apoidea: Crabronidae) are reviewed and an updated key to the Palaearctic species is provided.
