Based on the original type material, the nymphal stage of the mayfly Takobia maxillare is redescribed; in parallel, a lectotype is designated. Takobia maxillare is the type species of the genus Takobia, and an accurate and complete knowledge of its morphology is crucial to the delimitation of this problematic genus and clarification of its phylogenetic affinities. Ambiguous characters, previously reported for this species in the literature are clarified. Furthermore, two new species in the same genus are described, namely Takobia sinusopalpatasp. nov. and Takobia shughnonicasp. nov. based on the morphology of nymphs from Central Asia, supplemented with COI sequences. Implications for the systematics of Takobia and related taxa are discussed and the need for an extensive phylogenetic study of this group is stressed.

I describe two new species of the previously monotypic, Chilean endemic nysonine genus Cresson: C. mariastea Packer, sp. nov. and C. salitrera Packer, sp. nov., redescribe the type species C. parvispinosus (Reed) and provide an identification key for the three species. I clear up the confusion associated with the original type material of the latter species by designating a specimen from the type locality as the lectotype. The new species extend the range of the genus northwards, one by over 1000 km. I suggest putative hosts for all three species, all of which are in the genera Tachysphex or Parapiagetia.

The harvestman genus Bonea Roewer, 1914 and its type species B. sarasinorum Roewer, 1914 are redescribed based on the type material. In addition, two new species of Bonea from Hainan Island, China, are described and illustrated: B. zhui sp. nov. and B. tridigitata sp. nov. A new species of Lomanius Roewer, 1923 from Yunnan Province, China, is also described and illustrated: L. bulbosus sp. nov.. Keys to the 10 species of Bonea and the six species of Lomanius are provided. Paralomanius Goodnight & Goodnight, 1948 is revalidated from the synonymy of Lomanius, carrying as junior synonym Eulomanius Roewer, 1949, and containing two species from Micronesia (Paralomanius longipalpus Goodnight & Goodnight, 1948) and Philippines (Paralomanius mindanaoensis (Suzuki, 1977) new status). Bonea is transferred from the Ibaloniinae to Podoctinae. These are the first records of named species of Podoctidae from China.

Klapálek (1907) established Kamimuria as a subgenus of Perla, but later elevated it to generic rank (Klapálek 1912). Later, Klapálek (1923) designated Perla tibialis Pictet, 1841, a Japanese species, as the type species. Uchida & Isobe (1991) designated a neotype for K. tibialis and resurrected K. uenoi Kohno from synonymy. Sivec et al. (1988) redescribed the diagnostic characters of Kamimuria in reference to other Perlinae. It is a genus widespread in the Palaearctic and Oriental Regions, being particularly diverse in China. A total of 76 species have been described over the worldwide and includes 45 species residing in China (DeWalt et al. 2011, Sivec & Stark 2008, Sivec et al. 1988, 1997, Du et al. 1999, 2001, Du & Ran 2002, Du & Sivec 2004, 2005, Du & Wang 2005, 2007, Du 2006, Wu 1938, 1962, 1973). The type material of many species proposed by Wu (1935, 1936, 1938, 1940, 1947–1948) were lost because of the war, but for some species he designated neotypes (1962) which were deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica. Based on adult male morphology, two new species from China are described, and K. cheni Wu and K. Chungnanshana Wu are redescribed in this paper. The types of new species are deposited in the Insect Collection of Yangzhou University, Jiangsu, China.

Two new species of leptanthurid isopods in the genus Accalathura are described: A. schotteae, from collections off Panama and A. kensleyi from Belize (material previously identified as A. crenulata in the collections of the National Museum of Natural History, Washington D.C.). The type species of the genus, Calathura crenulata Richardson, 1901, is redescribed from type material and a key to the species of Accalathura in the Caribbean and an adjacent region is given.

The original type species of Australimnadia is made a junior synonym of A. grobbeni, originally described as Limnadia grobbeni Daday, 1925. A second species of Australimnadia is described from Onslow, Western Australia; it differs in having unique egg morphology and is distinct in many morphological characters, including those of the telson and cercopod, but also of the thoracopods. Its validity is confirmed by molecular differences between the two species in COI and EF1α. A third species from southwestern Western Australia is separated morphologically by unique spination of the telson and setation of the cercopod, and by its egg morphology.

The Encyonopsis microcephala-complex occurs in oligo-mesotrophic freshwaters and is often abundant in the periphyton of low nutrient lakes of high conservation value. It is globally distributed and increasing in apparent diversity with the discovery of additional species. To better differentiate this taxonomic aggregate, we re-examined the original type material of E. alpina, E. angusta and E. tavirana with light (LM) and scanning electron (SEM) microscopy. We investigated the morphology, ultrastructure and ecology of Encyonopsis populations from Ireland, which included previously unreported taxa and morphodemes of E. krammeri, E. neerlandica and E. subminuta. The apparently cosmopolitan E. microcephala was not found in collections from Ireland but two new species were described and compared to others in the complex. Encyonopsis carraensis sp. nov. was associated with a marl-precipitating community in low nutrient lakes, while Encyonopsis hibernica sp. nov. occurred in more productive waterbodies. Several Encyonopsis species had environmental optima near the oligo-mesotrophic boundary characteristic of the microcephala-complex. However, the niches of others were distributed along a wider gradient of water quality. Therefore, when Encyonopsis populations are prevalent in epilithic communities, the use of a more refined taxonomy is recommended for lake ecological assessment.

AbstractThe taxonomy of the Asian genera of the subfamily Betylobraconinae, a small and understudied group within the hymenopteran family Braconidae, is revised. A new genus exclusively from the Asian region, Asiabregma gen. nov., containing three species (A. ryukyuensis sp. nov. (type species, Japan and Malaya), A. makiharai sp. nov. (Japan) and A. sulaensis (van Achterberg), comb. nov. (Indonesia)) is described. One new species of Aulosaphobracon, A. striatus sp. nov. from Vietnam, and one of Facitorus, F. amamioshimus sp. nov. from Japan, are also described. Based on molecular phylogenetic analyses using COI mtDNA and 28S rRNA sequences, the three genera previously placed in the tribe Facitorini, Facitorus, Conobregma and Jannya, together with Asiabregma gen. nov., are transferred to the rogadine tribe Yeliconini.

Two new microleafhopper genera of Empoascini, Thaioasca Wang, Xu & Qin, gen. nov. and Mjolnirus Wang, Xu & Qin, gen. nov., based on the type species, Thaioasca contaminata Wang, Xu & Qin, sp. nov. and Mjolnirus mediolobus Wang, Xu & Qin, sp. nov. are described from Thailand. Male habitus photos and illustrations of male genitalia of these two new species are given. A checklist of Empoascini from Thailand is also provided.

The Neotropical genus Himantigera James in James & McFadden, 1982, is revised. Two new species are described and illustrated—H. amauroptera nov. sp. (Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia), and H. xanthopoda nov. sp. (Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica). Three species are transferred from Himantigera to Sargus Fabricius, 1798—S. dichrous (Schiner, 1868) comb. nov., S. flavoniger Lindner, 1928 comb. rev. and S. fulvithorax (Bigot, 1879) comb. nov. One species is transferred to Microchrysa Loew, 1855—M. splendens (Schiner, 1868) comb. nov. Himantigera jamesi Lindner, 1969 syn. nov. is proposed as a junior synonym of H. superba Lindner, 1949. The type species H. silvestris McFadden, 1982, as well as H. nigrifemorata Macquart, 1847 and H. superba Lindner, are herein redescribed and illustrated. Photographs of the type specimens of these three species are provided. Two unnamed species of Himantigera (sp. A and sp. B) are also described given that they have slight differences, but because we had only one specimen of each species, we did not officially describe them. This updates the total number of extant Himantigera from eight sensu Woodley (2001) to seven species. The species Merosargus apicalis Lindner, 1935, although never referred to the genus Himantigera or Himantoloba McFadden 1970, is also transferred to the genus Sargus. A key to all species of Himantigera and a map expanding geographical distribution of the genus are also presented, with the first records of the genus for Nicaragua, Colombia, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Ecuador and Bolivia.
