The coronavirus disease (SARS-CoV-2)) pandemic has caused unprecedented economic crises, and changes in our lifestyle to different things that we have not experienced before in this century, which cause by movement restriction order by the authority to halt the spread of the disease around the globe. Researchers around the globe applied computational intelligence methods in numerous fields which exhibits a successful story. The computational intelligence methods play an important role in dealing with coronavirus pandemics. This research will focus on the use of computational intelligence methods in understanding the infection, accelerating drugs and treatments research, detecting, diagnosis, and predicting the virus, surveillance, and contact tracing to prevent or slow the virus from the spread, monitoring the recovery of the infected individuals. This study points out promising CI techniques utilized as an adjunct along with the current methods used in containments of COVID-19. It is imagined that this study will give CI researchers and the wider community an outline of the current status of CI applications and motivate CI researchers in harnessing CI technique possibilities in the battle against COVID-19.

The density of population in cities is growing at a faster rate to make the life of people in cities comfortable and save. The city needs to be smart. It can be mainly achieved by intelligent decision making process using computational intelligence based systems. Keeping this in view, many researchers and organizations are working to develop and implement computational intelligence decision support systems. To obtain a comprehensive overview on the current status on SI based smart city community the present investigation has been made. To achieve this objective recently published standard articles on this important sub area have been collected and reviewed. The summary of the review has been presented in systematic manner to facilitate the researchers who are currently working in the area of smart city community. The important findings of the review have been made and presented. The important performance measures in various aspects of smart city obtained by the computational intelligence methods have been listed. It is expected that the findings and the contribution of the paper will benefit the researchers, the related government and private organizations in terms of furthering their research efforts and producing different smart products pertaining to community development and improvement of comfort level of the dwellers of the smart city.

The quality of a given water body can be assessed through the analysis of a number of indicators. Mathematical and computational models can be built to simulate the behavior of these indicators (observable variables), in such a way that different scenarios can be generated, supporting decisions regarding water resources management. In this study, the transport of a conservative contaminant in an estuarine environment is simulated in order to identify the position and intensity of the contaminant source. For this, it was formulated an inverse problem, which was solved through computational intelligence methods. This approach required adaptations to these methods, which had to be modified to relate the source position to the discrete mesh points of the domain. In this context, two adaptive techniques were developed. In one, the estimated points are projected to the grid points, and in the other, points are randomly selected in the iterative search spaces of the methods. The results showed that the methodology here developed has a strong potential in water bodies’ management and simulation.
