We report three patients with diagnostic imaging findings that are consistent with Mueller-Weiss syndrome. Mueller-Weiss syndrome is a rare condition that involves osteonecrosis of the navicular bone in an adult. The characteristic findings for Mueller-Weiss syndrome include a dorsomedial dislocation along with the collapse of the lateral navicular bone, resulting in a comma-shaped configuration. Through these three case studies, we aim to familiarize both foot and ankle specialists and radiologists with the diagnostic imaging findings for Mueller-Weiss syndrome.

Superior mesenteric artery syndrome (SMAS) is a rare condition caused by compression of the third portion of the duodenum between the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) and the aorta, causing symptoms of duodenal outflow obstruction. We report a case of SMAS in a young emaciated female with well-documented diagnostic imaging findings. We describe a case of an anteromedial fracture-dislocation of the radial head in an adult patient, which was initially irreducible using closed means, and remained challenging to reduce despite open surgery. Further advanced CT/MRI revealed entrapment of the radial head due to the interposition of the brachialis tendon posteriorly, thereby preventing sustained reduction. While three other cases of irreducible anteromedial radial head dislocation due to the brachialis tendon have been reported in the English surgical literature, none of the imaging findings have been described in the radiological literature. Only one other case published in a surgical journal briefly demonstrated pre-operative MRI imaging. We would like to share the value of pre-operative MRI in this rare presentation, which would be helpful in diagnosing not only cases with interposition of the brachialis tendon, but potentially other types of soft tissue interposition which also limit closed reduction. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this would be the first report on the imaging findings in a radiological journal. Awareness of this phenomenon would assist radiologists in the diagnosis and management of this rare condition.

Sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis is a rare condition caused by a fibrotic membrane covering the small bowel which may lead to abdominal pain or obstruction. The cause may be primary and idiopathic or secondary to several diseases, treatments, and/or medications. The condition typically presents with bowel obstruction, and only one previous case has described ascites as the presenting sign. Sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis is typically diagnosed intraoperatively. We present a case of a patient who presented with atypical clinical symptoms including respiratory distress, recurrent abdominal ascites, and failure to thrive who was diagnosed nonoperatively.
