Hydraulic generation system on helicopter generally consists of flight control hydraulic actuating circuit, landing gear retraction/extension hydraulic circuit, and wheel brake circuit. This paper studies on a volumetric speed control system applied in helicopter flight control actuating system. The system performance curve, deduced from the modeling, simulation and testing of the tail-actuating system, reveals that this volumetric speed control system meets the requirements of helicopter control system actuating.

The swashplate rod is a key component of helicopter control system. The vibration environment of helicopter is quite complex. The natural frequency of the swashplate rod is generally low. So resonance occurs easily. Resonance could reduce control precision or even damage the whole control system. Established dynamic and mathematical model of swashplate rod. Analyzed the vibration characteristics. Obtained the natural frequency and vibration mode function of the rod. In the compression, tension and free state, the natural frequency of the rod is basically the same. Made flight experiment with a developing helicopter as object. Measured the load of the swashplate rod in flight conditions. Make Fourier analysis to the load. Obtained the frequencies of the load on the rod. The frequencies coincide with 1 and 2 times of the rotor speed.

NRC researchers investigated the tradeoffs between binocular-overlap and field-of-view in helmet-mounted displays. Four test pilots performed a series of maneuvers in a helicopter while wearing field-of-view (FOV) limiting goggles. They evaluated a monocular FOV, a range of binocular overlaps, and unrestricted vision. Pilots evaluated the system performance and handling qualities using Cooper-Harper Handling Qualities Ratings, visual cue ratings, and subjective comments. The handling qualities of the helicopter/pilot system changed in a non-linear fashion as the binocular overlap increased. Pilot comments, preferences, and visual cue ratings showed the same trends as the handling qualities data. Practical applications of the results are discussed, including helicopter control system augmentation to allow improved performance in degraded visual conditions.

Helicopter is a strong coupling and instability nonlinear system, of which the inherent flight qualities are poor. Helicopter model following control technology can make four control channels of helicopter with excellent tracking and decoupling characteristics. This paper applied the control method of model following control combining eigenststructure assignment to the helicopter control system. The results of simulation show that the helicopter flight qualities meet the requirements of ADS-33, the helicopter has excellent tracking and decoupling characteristics. Thus it proves that this control method is of great effectiveness.
