Flexible manufacturing processes improve profitability and competitiveness for the company through an efficient process, with quality in a short time, and contribute to achieving low costs. One of the approaches that have been currently developed to improve the flexible manufacturing process is simulation. Simulation models consist of an assertive and powerful tool in strategic planning.  It permits a controlled way of the company's reality so that it was possible to study and analyze the organization's current situation under several circumstances without altering the production's physical environment and involving low costs. Accordingly, this study's primary purpose was to develop a simulation model to verify bottlenecks' existence in the bearing manufacturing process. For this, a case study is presented, and it was used modeling/simulation with Arena Software as a research method. The results showed no bottlenecks in the manufacturing process.

This article presents the modeling, simulation and experimental validation of the movement of the floating bearing bushing in an external gear pump. As a starting point, a complete pump parameterization was carried out through standard tests, and these parameters were used in a first bond graph model in order to simulate the gear pump behavior. This model was experimentally validated under working conditions in field tests. Then, a sophisticated bond graph model of the movement of the floating bushing was developed from the equations that define its lubrication. Finally, as a result, both models were merged by integrating the dynamics of the floating bushing bearing with the variation of the characteristic parameters (loss coefficients). Finally, the final model was experimentally validated both in laboratory and field tests by assembling the pump in a drilling machine to drive the auxiliary movements. The novelty of this article is the conception and construction of a simple and experimentally validated tool for the study of a gear pump, which relates its macroscopic behavior as a black box (defined by the loss coefficients) to the internal changes of the unit (defined by its internal lubrication).

The paper presents a mathematical modeling approach to determine the permanent regime temperature of an electric contact found in the supply system of the railway electric traction. Mathematical modeling is a basic procedure in the preliminary determination of parameters of interest in various fields of scientific analysis. The numerical modeling method used for determining the electric contact temperature represents the base for developing a finite-element thermal model. The simulation of the electric contact was verified by an experimental infrared investigation of an electric contact realized on a realistic laboratory setup. The results interpretation reveals a good synchronization between the calculated, simulated and measured temperatures.
