AbstractWe focus on two topics that are related to moduli of elements in partially ordered vector spaces. First, we relate operators that preserve moduli to generalized notions of lattice homomorphisms, such as Riesz homomorphisms, Riesz* homomorphisms, and positive disjointness preserving operators. We also consider complete Riesz homomorphisms, which generalize order continuous lattice homomorphisms. Second, we characterize elements with a modulus by means of disjoint elements and apply this result to obtain moduli of functionals and operators in various settings. On spaces of continuous functions, we identify those differences of Riesz* homomorphisms that have a modulus. Many of our results for pre-Riesz spaces of continuous functions lead to results on order unit spaces, where the functional representation is used.

AbstractWe study three types of order convergence and related concepts of order continuous maps in partially ordered sets, partially ordered abelian groups, and partially ordered vector spaces, respectively. An order topology is introduced such that in the latter two settings under mild conditions order continuity is a topological property. We present a generalisation of the Ogasawara theorem on the structure of the set of order continuous operators.

Continuous orthogonal moments, for which continuous functions are used as kernel functions, are invariant to rotation and scaling, and they have been greatly developed over the recent years. Among continuous orthogonal moments, polar harmonic Fourier moments (PHFMs) have superior performance and strong image description ability. In order to improve the performance of PHFMs in noise resistance and image reconstruction, PHFMs, which can only take integer numbers, are extended to fractional-order polar harmonic Fourier moments (FrPHFMs) in this paper. Firstly, the radial polynomials of integer-order PHFMs are modified to obtain fractional-order radial polynomials, and FrPHFMs are constructed based on the fractional-order radial polynomials; subsequently, the strong reconstruction ability, orthogonality, and geometric invariance of the proposed FrPHFMs are proven; and, finally, the performance of the proposed FrPHFMs is compared with that of integer-order PHFMs, fractional-order radial harmonic Fourier moments (FrRHFMs), fractional-order polar harmonic transforms (FrPHTs), and fractional-order Zernike moments (FrZMs). The experimental results show that the FrPHFMs constructed in this paper are superior to integer-order PHFMs and other fractional-order continuous orthogonal moments in terms of performance in image reconstruction and object recognition, as well as that the proposed FrPHFMs have strong image description ability and good stability.

Abstract Galego and Samuel showed that if K, L are metrizable, compact, Hausdorff spaces, then $C(K)\widehat{\otimes}_\pi C(L)$ is c0-saturated if and only if it is subprojective if and only if K and L are both scattered. We remove the hypothesis of metrizability from their result and extend it from the case of the twofold projective tensor product to the general n-fold projective tensor product to show that for any $n\in\mathbb{N}$ and compact, Hausdorff spaces K1, …, K n , $\widehat{\otimes}_{\pi, i=1}^n C(K_i)$ is c0-saturated if and only if it is subprojective if and only if each K i is scattered.

Abstract.LetTbe a bounded linear operator on a Banach spaceW, assumeWandYare in normed duality, and assume thatThas adjointT†relative toY. In this paper, conditions are given that imply that for all λ≠0, λ−Tand λ −T†maintain important standard operator relationships. For example, under the conditions given, λ −Thas closed range if, and only if, λ −T†has closed range. These general results are shown to apply to certain classes of integral operators acting on spaces of continuous functions.

1. Objective. It is possible to define order convergence on the vector lattice of all continuous functions of compact support on a locally compact topological space. Every measure is a linear form on this vector lattice. The object of this paper is to prove that a measure is such that every set of the first category of Baire has measure zero if and only if the measure is a linear form which is continuous in the order convergence.
