Methods for quickly determining the cure state of peroxidecured compounds used in dielectric cables are investigated. The properties measured as indicators of cure state include percentage heat distortion, percentage extractables, and percentage residual peroxide (PRP). High pressure differential scanning calorimetry seems to offer a promising method for measuring PRP, and might be applicable to process control and to other polymer systems cured using thermal initiators.
